I posted a month or so ago that I was selling my Uly. As of today it's gone. In an odd deal, I ended up trading it for a new roof on our cabin. In passing, I mentioned to the contractor giving us a bid that I was selling the bike, and he said he was interested. He got the better end of the deal monetarily, (I took a bath on the thing) but I don't have to deal with craigslist nuts coming to my house either, and there's some value in that to me. He's happy, I'm happy, and that's what counts.

In any case, I've really enjoyed my time here. It's one of the more informative motorcycle sites on the web. Good luck to you all with your Ulys! I expect to be on an ST1300 fairly soon.

Good luck Chris....enjoyed reading some of your adventures and especially the trip around Lake Superior. Up your way this past week riding some of the bluffs along the Mississippi. You have some nice riding up there.

Thanks! The Lake Superior trip was a lot of fun.
I picked up the ST1300 today, and it's a world of difference from the Uly. Probably not going to be doing much gravel, but it's more of what I was looking for. I don't regret my time on the Buell, I had it for five years, but ultimately, it wasn't really a good distance bike for me.

I also have to admit, I had some serious concerns about parts support going forward. I went to get some minor things a month or two ago, and almost everything was listed as pending obsolete at the HD dealer. I know that places like American Sport Bike are great vendors, but I have to say, I had some concerns with the orphan nature of having a Buell as my only bike.

I remember my dad had bought an ST1300 when they first came out. Ordered it sight-unseen and waited several months for it to come in. My younger brother totaled it 4 months later. I was an ultra-refined, powerful mile-muncher while it was in one piece though!

Good luck, Chris. Enjoy the new bike.
