Cool, now you have a collar bone just like Geoff May!

Seriously, it's very good things didn't turn out worse.
If you're thinking about an AX, I've seen at least one article that said the AX would be out before the end of this year.

Pontlee,
Hate to hear that you got hurt. Freaking cars. Probably was talking on a cell phone at the same time he was turning. If everyone learned to ride then they'd get a much better appreciation for what we that ride go through every time we do battle with the cages. AX coming up.

The bike is probably not bad enough to get rid of it. I flipped mine doing about 50 mph in a wheelie broke my collar bone bad about the same, 8 screws and a plate to fix it. The bike looked really bad. I did not turn it in on insurance because I was afraid they would total it. Any way it was all cosmetic damage, after replacing all damaged parts only thing left is a dent in the frame and grind marks where the right frame puck goes. Would require a new frame to fix properly but my wife says it gives the bike character. It rides great. The bike is built like a tank. I love it.

Sorry to hear about your incident with a stupid driver Pontlee.

I hope you heal up quickly and decide to fix your Uly, or get another one ... it's good seeing your posts here and would hate to see you leave.

Depending on what insurance says as for now the dealer has made a quote for the insurance of around 5000$ but there are parts they didnt list so it will be close or over 6000$ that is bit by bit! and with out taking the bike apart and finding moré damage, i'd love to sort it out, but, i'd rather find an X1 is the bike i most like had one but engine exploded but that is another story, at this stage if i had the $ i'd get a triump tiger Explorer tired one out and it Great, Many will swear a BMW or KTM is better, posibly for them, but every one has a diferent taste.

If i get the blame for some strange reason i'll take bike back home and will start to repair it on my own i think the frame is damaged fortunatelly a friend decided to sell his uly by parts so i have the frame in case it needs to be changed, and a few parts moré, i'll just will need time, patience and a good look in flea-bay, if i find the X1 the uly will be a long términos project.

Pontlee real sorry to hear about your crash man! And sorry about the Uly going down too. Hopefully you'll fully recover from your injuries and no long lasting health problems will plague you. I have close calls almost every day on my bike it seems. People pulling out in front of me etc. I expect it now and always slow as I'm approaching a possible pull out contender. Hope you get your bike sorted out or get the Triumph, whichever turns out to be the best solution. Get well in the meantime and thanks for sending me the GT40 paint job pics. Sorry to hear that super sweet bike is in bad shape, both get well soon.

Hi Pontlee77 sorry to hear about the crash but good to hear you are OK. Take your time and get better.
If it makes you feel better I broke a rib a couple of months ago when my mate ran into the back of me on his Triumph. That was in Tasmania and I had to ride over 2,000k to get home.
We are still friends but we now have a scala head set each so that I can let him know that I'm stopped.

Thank you all for the replies hopefully today i can go back home, the surgery and recovery is going fine, today i saw the cut where the surgery was done i have a bunch of staples, but it looks pretty good, i'lll keep updated with the progress and see how this ends.

My bike is in the Harley dealer, but those there are just part changers, not real mechanics, so depending on the frame if it's ok i'll take the bike back home and do it up my self, if the frame is shot i'll let them do the work, so if it goes wrong i can blame them.

Wow, just reading this. Take it easy and heal well Pontlee. Get yourself taken care of then you can deal with the bike. If the bike can't be fixed there are others out there. Best of luck to you.

The bike will almost certainly be totaled, so mentally prepare for that. The good news is you will likely be able to buy it back under salvage title pretty cheaply and either use it for parts or repair it. In Ohio, it was a moderately painful process to get it legal to be on the road again, and the title will always show it was a salvage rebuild.

It's hard to find everything broken and fix it. There can be a lot of subtle but important damage that takes quite a while to show back up. I rode for close to a year with a cracked rear head (where it mounts to the frame) before it popped the rest of the way off and made it obvious what had happened. And now, two years later, I have some kind of mystery RPM related rattle that appears to be coming from outside the motor.

Hopefully they are fair on the insurance valuation.

Well in Spain i think they work a diferent way, in any case i have a frame from a fríen that has a cleani tittle but first i need to know if they will repair it, as the totaled valué will be next to nothing.

In any case the insurance has to pay for my gear, injuries and then claim because i could have been killed, so i'll see how it all ends maybe the chance to change bike and get an X1.

Only time has the answer

Terrible news! Glad it isn't more serious. You put a lot of love into that Uly, so I am definitely sorry to hear it sounds trashed.

Lately, I often find myself thinking that I should stop riding on the street. It would be a tough commitment for me to make, though, I think I COULD be OK with it if I had a little dual sport for playing around on and maybe an dedicated track bike for thrills in a relatively controlled environment.

Here where i Live there are Many great roads and some have virtually no traffic, but there is always that idiot that can spoil your day, and this área is full of tourists and when they drive you some times need to have some predicting power to know what is their nex move, in my case i couldent predict what he was going to do.
Nacional health was useless after getting the ambulante and be taken to hospital broken collar bone but not displaced and a broken rib 3 hours later i was sent home with some pills. As i was not very happy with that i sent to prívate doctor : very displaced collar bone and 4 broken ríbs and some líquido in the lung.

Now i know why it was as hell to move.

I'll have to take some pics of my scar on the shoulder.

So your National health care sucks? How can they miss that bad on their diagnosis if they took x rays? Sounds like you get to pay twice.

Pontlee77, sorry to hear about your crash and hope you heal quickly. Sorry about your nice bike too, I know you were proud of it.

Sometimes I think about giving up street riding too. Too many idiots out there ever since cell phones were invented. When I do ride, I'm always conscientious of vehicles anywhere near me at all, especially those behind me. I constantly ride as if they are all out to get me and I have to avoid them. Funny thing is it doesn't scare me while riding but after I get home, I am always thankful that I made it home alive. Shouldn't be that way. Back in the mid 70's when I started riding street bikes, I rarely ever worried about the idiots in cars. We had idiots back then too, just a different type of idiot...

All that said, I can hardly wait until my next ride. Thanks.

Fotoguzzi, i Live on the other side of the puddle in Spain.

I dont worth what is behind me, as previously the D&D and now the Micrón are so loud cars behind me give a good distance, the ones in front hear me getting close so they are quite aware, i like to follow the: loud pipes save lives, doesent always work, but a few times it's prevented having an accident.

Thank you all for the coments.

Seem they want to put the blame on me, so it seems i'll have to pay to repair my uly, so i'm having thoughts and may part it out, be some time with out a bike until i find the bike that i know i'll really enjoy, the past few months i was triying hard to get the feeling i had when i first had the uly , but some how i didnt feel as comfortable as before.

Maybe there is a reason for this, a triumph would be the next stop up but at 20.000$ is a lot of money.

So i'm thinking of heading to find a good X1 that i know for sure will make me happy.
