I will be replacing my 2009 wheel a 2010 rear wheel upgrade. I need to change my rotor and sprocket bolts. I went on one of our sponsors site to buy and after shipping I would be spending $56 for 12 small bolts. Nothing against the guy but I can not justify spending close to sixty bucks for some bolts. Is there another source for these bolts. I know they are supposed to be used once so what have you guys done in the past? tanks. | ||

If bolts are in good shape, buff clean . Go get some blue loctite. A few drops n torque them up. Should be good to go then. | ||

I reused the rotor and sprocket bolts when installing a 2010 rear wheel on my '06 Ulysses, in June 2010. As stated above, I cleaned the threads of the factory locking agent and applied blue loc tite. The installation has been fine for over 10k miles... so far. However, I am not recommending, that you reuse said bolts that the manufacturer says are one time use. | ||

Just wire brush the bolts and the holes, then dab on new loctite. | ||

I reused my sprocket and disk bolts when I upgraded to 2010 wheel too. I used a dental pick to remove the blue crap from the threads and then applied new blue crap and torqued to spec. Been about 15,000 miles. Still hasn't exploded. | ||

The reason they want you to change the bolts is because of the locking agent that is applied to them. So clean the threads of the old, spray them with alcohol or brake cleaner and blow dry. On these I might go with red loctite but blue will probably work. Look at it this way, your putting a steel bolt into aluminum. By the time you torqued a steel bolt to do it any damage you would be ripping the aluminum threads out. Nothing wrong with the old hardware. | ||

I reused all the bolts on both our ULY's when changing over to the 2010 wheels. To remove rotor and pulley bolts I heated them up with a propane torch and used a manual impact tool to remove them. http://www.tooldesk.com/automotive/LIS29200-Loosen -Rusted-Bolts-Nuts-Screws-Hand-Impact-Tool-by-Lisl e.aspx Blue loctited them into the 2010 wheel and have had no problems. I've even reused the muffler straps and haven't had a problem there either and that's been thousands of miles ago that I re-cinched them up. If you replace every thing the manual says is only single use then the money adds up. If it looks good then I reuse. | ||
