Anyone have experience using the EcmDroid application for android OS? As I understand the limited documentation (open source community developed apps are infamous for not providing comprehensive documentation), you hook up a bluetooth tranceiver to the diag port on the bike and the application runs on your droid, providing logging information and provides (some) tuning capabilities. I'm wondering if the app is stable and whether it is comprehensive enough to be useful. What are its features and limitations? | ||

It worked well for me to monitor some values, test some things, and do a TPS reset. I didn't try messing with maps (and don't have an interest in doing so anyway). Its a little quirky in that it exposes newer features that my 2007 doesn't support. The one I tried just returned and said "that didn't work". Which is fine, as it wasn't there.  I like it. | ||

Where do you buy the Bluetooth adapter for the bike and how much do they cost? | ||

Here is what I used for reference... http://www.badweatherbikers.com/buell/messages/406 2/736624.html?1398210720 http://www.ecmspy.com/btwireless2.shtml I think XOpti sells the adapters, but it wasn't clear to me if they were as nice a setup as the homebrew stuff above. Total cost was maybe $30 by the time the parts were shipped. You could do it for much less if you just splice right into the diagnostic port wires and leave the adapter always on the bike. The Deutsche connector costs almost as much as the modem. | ||

As I mentioned in the referenced thread above, I need to order a handfull of the slave bluetooth modules but cannot seem to find a US domestic supplier that will take phone orders. I don't do online credit card transactions. I'm funny that way. Sounds like some good feedback for the ecmdroid app. Is anyone using it on DDFI3 motors like the 08 Uly? |
