Is the muller power clutch worth it? The heavy clutch pull is really hurting my wrist.

Will it stop the heavy 1st gear clunk?

The ulys have a light clutch pull compared to the earlier Buells. I don't think you would gain much with a muller. I had an easypull clutch linkage in my Thunderbolt, but putting in the Uly clutch spring made the biggest improvement.

Why a muller? You can buy the easy pull clutch for 1/3 of the muller, i put on my uly the xs versión and a Great improvement, there is even the xxs even softer, and you can install easy and dont need to remove the primary cover. Just unscrew the screw under the omega cover remove the part take of the circlip, put the new part put the circlip and re install, the muller is the whole set, and the other is just one of the sides where the bearings roll on the length of the races where bearings move is longer, so you will have more lever move to make actuate the clutch, but for me it was a Great improvement.

The Muller works in a completely different way to the easy clutch style 'bolt on' extensions.

The Muller unit is a complete ramp assembly that replaces the stock unit, the easy clutch is just a bolt on extension to the stock ramp lever. This puts the clutch cable at a sharper angle and puts more strain on it. You also have an extra bolted on part inside the cases that maybe you don't want.

We sell both but I have used the Muller on every Buell I've owned (including race bikes) and it is definitely the better product. As the olf adage says, you get what you pay for.

I've never ridden with a Muller, but I did squeeze a lever of a bike with one, and it is quite nice. Almost feels as nice and light as the hydraulic setup on my 1125R.

Terrycoxusa: expand a bit on xb clutch spring in a earlier buell. Are you speaking of diaphragm spring in clutch pack assembly? That made for a lighter clutch pull at lever? What other benefits? Wife has a 96 sporster sport that after wrist / shoulder surgeries hard clutch pull needs to go away. Been curious if my 12x parts would retro back to that 96. Always like lever pull on my 12x.

Also, NOTHING will stop the heavy first gear clunk.

There is a lot of rotational mass that is brought to a stop when you clunk it into first.

Sorry I should have not said my wrist. The area between my index finger and thumb. When ive been riding everytime ive engaged the clutch it hurts. If there's a of engaging the clutch it can get really painful and ill feel it days after.

Sagehawk, yes, the diaphragm spring in the clutch pack. H-D ordered the Uly spring for me and it as about $30. Best $30 I ever spent on that Tbolt.

My Ully clutch feels quite light, about like my 1125. Maybe it was altered?

I think they did something the the clutch springs or ramp ball release thingy for 2008 bikes.
Weaker spring with some different tranny fluid or some such.
I know it's much easier than my X1 at least.

Anyone on here that has the muller power clutch?

I've used these on every Buell I've owned (S1,2 x S3,XB9R,XB9S,Xb12S,Uly) and can't speak highly enough (even though I am biased and sell them!). Adjustemnt is slightly different to normal and needs to be exact, but other than that it is all good news. I can never understand why they are not fitted as standard on all H-D motors.

IIRC the change was in 06. a weaker spring and a coated cable make for a light-er clutch feel at the lever.

my wife likes the clutchlite in her 03.
it takes ME a few stoplights to get used to it compared to my uly. uniformity is the only reason i'd consider getting another one for my bike too.

the mueller seems like the more expensive option to achieve the same goal.

Once you fit the unit and go to adjust the clutch, you don't have to turn the adjusting screw out quite so much as the stock unit (only around 1/4 turn instead of 1/2). Other than that it is the same as fitting a stock unit.

yes and No,
You get a lighter clutch with both, but the 'easy clutch' type is doing it by extending the lever and so putting your clutch cable at a tighter angle as it passes through the primary case. I have heard of cables breaking because of the increased angle and rubbing on the edge of the cable routing through the primary.

The Muller clutch adds no additional hardware inside the case and everything fits exactly as stock. The only change is the ramp angle that the ball bearings run on, which is what makes the clutch easier to use.

Trojan, i disagree with the longer arm leverage of the easy pull clutch, some are but not all the one i was talking about is from the UK and is just the back plate with longer ramps, so it doesent make a longer arm leverage.

Do you have a link to this part? It sounds like a copy of the Muller unit rather than a traditional 'easy'clutch.?

I dont like the free spirits design, looks like one more piece to come loose and shake around the primary.
