I really hope the AX doesn't disappoint when it arrives. Maybe if it does it will seal the status of the Ulysses as a cult bike.

I wouldn't trust the KTM. They've had problems with them and a Kiwi friend of mine blew an engine up.

If I had the cash today.
I would do a 180 on my moto philosophy, and get one of these:

No to hijack this thread too far, but notice the Grom is on that list?

They claim it is a great starter bike. But lets just say I wanted to get my daughter into riding motorcycle and she gets her permit. Do I want her on this bike in traffic? It's small stature leads me to believe that it would be hard to see on the road.

Although, I would love an excuse to buy one, because it looks like a blast!

The RX is supposedly easier to work on than the 1125R/CR, and I haven't seen anybody complaining about them being especially difficult to work on.

Did I not see that twin motorcycles had to roll a motor to change a spark plug on a 1125? Say it isn't so! was on their facebook site on what we did today. I really like that. a lot is repetitive but the new things to see wakes me up that i am not doing enough more than likely. I saw a blip that the honda vf4 might be brought in as a "adventure bike." that was a couple years ago. street version was declared by my better half as and i quote " an old man's buick." you shoulda seen the shop owners eyes when he heard that. It took him a year to sell one of those things. first street honda i liked till i heard those words. I told him, there , you heard it live- from conroe , texas in the best announcer voice i had. sheesh. twas mildly embarrassing.

I have changed the spark plugs on my Buells every 20k miles regardless of if they needed it or not. They never needed it, I did it because I felt guilty.

I rotate the engine to do it, which is about an hours worth of work from start to buttoned back up if I go slow and carefully. While it is rotated, it is nice to have very open access to everything to clean and inspect. Never bothered me much.

My impression is that removing the motor on the RX is not much more work than rotating the engine on the XB. If it was a 90 minute start to finish job, but gave me "engine on the bench" type access, I'm fine with that.

Technically you need to rotate the 1125 motor to do spark plugs, but there are easier ways to do it without rotating, in fact it is easier than getting to the rear plug on a Uly. The spark plug interval is the same as the valve inspection, so it is a kill two birds with one stone type of thing when you have the motor down.

My understanding is the 1190RX doesn't need engine rotation for maintenance

I miss my Uly. But I have to say I'm really getting pissed at having to wait to see a pic or to hear a peep about the AX development and testing. You can only keep a fellow dangling for so long and then all the secrecy gets really frustrating. They KNOW there are some of us that are buyers but they let us dangle and linger.

I might take a look IF it ever hits the sales floor. But I've been left out in the wind long enough.

I went to look at the Ktoom and its butt ugly. Good quality fit and Finnish but the engineered gaps and all the exposed plumbing really detracts from a purchase. Then there's the big old tank decal. Yuck.

I have a Vic Cross Roads that's drop dead gorgeous. I'd be afraid to wheelie it, but the ADV market needs to amp up its styling and "time to market" deliveries.

Wake me up when the AX/ULY II miraculously appears ...

I would have to pull it apart and have the red frame nickel plated.

You can see the lines on the road?

I miss my Uly. But I have to say I'm really getting pissed at having to wait to see a pic or to hear a peep about the AX development and testing.
I can't say I'm angry. I know that money is a year away for me. But, it would be nice to not have to buy a first year Uly II. Will have to look at the naked bike before we get the goods. I DO HOPE that the XT version is released at the same time as the tall AX. I am limited to only 08 plus XTs as I like the OEM suspension.

I'd like to see Indian build a Scout that was an American styled ADV bike - the new 111 motor is a drop dead gorgeous mill - makes good power ...

Friend at work just got an Indian. I stared at the motor for a while thinking of how to cram one into an XT. I actually thought it looked good.

I dig the looks of that bike, but I'd really like a center stand and a solid way to mount crash bars/skid plate.

That Indian motor looks heavy. I test rode one out a Sturgis last summer. It was heavy and OK if you like that sort of bike. I'm way past ever considering a purchase of a 500+ pound motorcycle. If a light electric bike becomes available with a range extending fuel cell that makes touring possible then I'm all in so long as we're talking under $20K. Then all the major motorcycle manufacturers better be watching out otherwise they will go the way of the buggy whip.

They are- I have a buddy in Lancaster, a drunk Amishman rear ended him with his buggy a few years ago. He was at a stop sign, all of a sudden there's a horse really close to him, then BAM!. Buggy in his back wheel! None other than an Acme whip in hand.

But yeah, the AX (sorry guys, but I don't give a crap about dirt) and an AXT version, preferrably with a fairing of some sort. Long as it has the whale tail I'm in!

Just got an XT and love it, but I thnk the fly screen will suuuck this winter!

It's funny how we like different things. I wouldn't entertain a bigger screen than the standard Uly one.
