I'm trying out a Palmer screen and brackets on my '09 Uly and wondered if anyone has successfully managed to mount their GPS behind the screen.
I'm currently using a RAM mount on the L/H handlebar but find that it is too low. I can see a couple of holes at the top of the Palmer brackets and was considering putting an Ali bar between them but am concerned about vibration and the extra weight on the screen mounts.

Any suggestions and/or photos would be greatly appreciated.

I use a ram mount on the right side handlebar. You might try a different length arm. I have a Magellan Crossover GPS I don't think I would add the extra load to the Palmer Brackets, which I also have. They mount to the flyscreen and I don't think it is very strong, being plastic and secured with those small screws. Do you have the extra bracket arms that run from the palmer mounts to the handlebars? Sorry but I can't post photos, I always get the 'file too large' message.

Yes, I have the support brackets for the Palmer screen - it feels pretty solid but I'm still uneasy about it.
I've tried longer RAM arms but the the longer they get the more vibration you get at the GPS end. I've also got the Touratech mount that bolts to the crossbar but that either puts it too low and near to me or blocks the instruments.

Tried this:

Plenty of vibration at idle but crystal clear once you get going. The Touratech mount is still on the crossbar.
I know it's just an old Quest but I wanted to be sure of a decent mount before spending on a newer model.
Will try it out over the next few days to see if all is ok.

Here is mine. Ram mount. I haven't had a problem with it shaking or moving around. It does shake at idle, but not so much.

Mine was originally mounted on the left hand bar using the same mount as you. I don't think the small print and screen of the Quest helps but there was too much high frequency vibration to read the instructions easily. My failing near sight doesn't exactly help either!
I'll probably switch to a 390LM before the summer - not sure if the extra weight over the Quest will make things better or worse.

I drilled a hole in the dash (I know, sacrelidge!) and mounted a ball with a 1/4" bolt in the 'corner' above the tach/ idiot light area. A long arm puts it centered and above the front cover. Three plus years with a Nuvi 675 there, a gallon ziplock and rubber band when it rains heavy, no problems and eliminated the vibes I was getting with a bar mount.
