I used to be spoiled...anytime I needed Buell parts, I'd take a short ride to American Sportbike to see Al & bring my parts home with me that day. I've since moved back to Michigan to be closer to family. I'm do for an oil change & thought I'd run up to my local HD shop (where I used to by my Buell parts) & pickup the parts that I'll need.

(1) Gasket, Clutch Cover - $7.37/each
(1) Gasket, Inspection Cover - $3.95/each
(6) O-ring - $1.95/each (6 to have extra)
Total cost $23.26

They no longer stock the gaskets but their sister dealership has them in stock. I will have to come back next week to pick them up.

For comparison, American Sportbike prices:

(1) Gasket, Clutch Cover - $5.18/each
(1) Gasket, Inspection Cover - $2.25/each
(6) O-ring - $0.95/each
Total cost $13.13

HD prices are nearly DOUBLE! When I asked why the o-rings are nearly $2 a piece, the parts lady laughed and said cuz they are Harley. Before I went to the HD shop, I was going to buy online from American Sportbike, but Al is no longer able to carry the Formula+, so I figured I had to go the dealer anyways.

Even if you factor in shipping cost, it would still be cheaper....now I have to make a 2nd trip the dealer that is about 15 miles away. When I return to pickup my parts, I'm gonna buy a case of Formula+ so I never have to go back for a LONG TIME...will be sure to order everything else from Al.

Just thought I'd pass the info along & give props to Al!

I have always reused the primary gaskets unless I saw damage on there. Also, take one of those O-rings to your local Lowes/home depot. They sell them in 10 packs for $3.

My local dealer was trying to sell me those O-rings for $5 each.
EACH. WTF?! (That's why I went to home depot)

"I have always reused the primary gaskets. Me too" And me. Clutch Cover and Inspection Cover gasket that is. Unlike other parts you will see any problem and not a "critical part" either.

All dealers charge a higher price for basic parts. It is how they make there money.
