Getting used to a new bike is fun...the way it feels under you...the way it accelerates and brakes...and the sounds it makes. for the last few days i have been hearing what i thought was the valves one second and engine pinging the next...turns out it was the horn beating against the fly screen....Any easy fixes for this?

Turn the horn to the inside of the bracket.

The metal strip that the horn bolts to may be breaking otherwise there shouldn't be enough flex to allow contact with the fly screen. Mine broke early at like 3K miles. I took the horn and bolted it directly to the tab on the upper headlight bracket. This turned out not to be such a great idea as now at 21K the bracket itself has started to crack. Probably want to be sure there's something flexible there.

When I installed the Madstat the instructions said to rotate the horn. I did so and forgot to check if it worked before installing the flyscreen. It was such a PITA installing the flyscreen, coupled with the fear of stripping a bolt (see another thread floating around lately) I have no working horn. Been using my big foul mouth. Maybe I should get a Harpo Marx squeeze bulb horn.

I took off the bracket and mounted the horn where bracket attached to the bike. Not as loud and not a problem.
