I have a set of Sarachu silencers That I picked up for my EX 500....These are the meanest sounding pipes I have ever heard. The inlet on the cans is 1 1/2" and the cans are 18" long and are 3" wide I am considering laying them side by side with a y pipe at the inlets and using a section of 1/8" plate top and bottom ( bent to the same shape as the OEM exhaust. I also would have room for a length of aluminum in between to stiffen the whole works up...hopefully allowing the bike to still be jacked up by this silencer. Heres what they sound like on a 500cc parallel twin http://keycruncher.com/ex500/Sqyler_Sarachu_pipes. wav I think they would sound mean as hell on the ULY...thoughts? |

It think it is worth a shot as long as you don't butcher up the current set up. That is if you don't like the new modification, you can put it back the way it was. |

What several of us have found that is if you plan to ride long distance keeping your stock set up on hand is a good idea. Because the pipe ends under you, the noise can get annoying turning into a long day of droning deafness. Most of the folks I know that have truly loud pipes don't ride but about fifty miles a day. The loud pipes can drown out any sound system or communication equipment you might have farkled into your helmet also. Loud is fun, but riding comfortably and functionally is more fun. I tried it and switched back. But I did modify the muffler to be a little louder with a right side tail pipe. We have a saying "Loud Fans Save Lives" that befits the Uly in all of it's candor.
