Just wondering how it is in the real world? Do I need a masters to use it? When i bought my bike it came with a cable and a disk from technoresearch.com ....is labeled " Vehicle diagnostic scan tool software VDSTS standard version ( Buell VDO_EFI)
Is this the same thing? I am interested in resetting my TPS and would like to do it myself if possible

i use ecmspy to know what is happening in engine management. I have modified cold start enrichment, fan on settings with key on, check for codes, and enrichened fueling one time. I now need to datalog with megalog to get the big picture of what bike is doing. I did splurge for the full on ecmspy which is well worth the donation to be able to do all these things. I really don't know what this other software is that you speak of. Gotta go, the Bruins just lost to minnesota. Crap! you never know where these playoffs go.

I use it all the time. Once you read the manual it's pretty straight forward. Plenty of help here on the site as well. Great for adjusting fuel maps, troubleshooting, TPS reset, AFV reset....

Brakes2late: i might ask for a bit of help this spring. I haven't datalogged yet and the straightforward manual seems to have a few holes in it. Maybe that ocd thing and being lefthanded leaves me out as understanding the straightforward. will be ongoing soon as i get the old laptop a new battery and understand it a bit more.

Anytime. Data logging is a bit my complicated. Plenty of resources here and other sites though.

Ray,
I'll send you a copy of the free one I've had for a while. I believe it was the last version before they started asking for a donation. Since you have an 06 it will do everything you want and is pretty easy to figure out. I might even have some instructions. I've changed fuel maps, timing maps, tps reset, clear codes etc. Great tool. It will not work on EBR Racing ECM's in fact it will screw them up! If you have a stock ECM then it's great.

Donation of $72.50 for my 07 ecm type. They go by 'model' of ecm and how many different ones you will service. They offer updates and storage of files on their site as well .

"will be ongoing soon as i get the old laptop a new battery". I would NOT bother for the cost of an OEM battery and the clone ones are not advised. Get yourself something like, as I have, a MSI WIND net-book. Amazing and great value for the money.

While the old 06 free version of ECM-SPY is a help it does not do data logging which you will need. The later version does but you will need to pay for it. Tuner Pro does and is free. ECM-SPY is good if you want an easy way to do it which is what it was designed to do.
