Not sure how many folks out there are Mobil 1 fans like myself, but thought I'd post the Mobil 1 rebate I discovered. If you buy 5 or more quarts + oil filter, you get a $15 mail-in rebate. If you just buy the oil, you still get a $12 rebate. You can buy from Amazon or other participating dealers. Below is the link to the rebate form from Amazon. They will ship for free as well. http://g-ecx.images-amazon.com/images/G/01/00/00/5 0/71/84/51/5071845170._V339755612_.pdf |

I just bought 8 qts of 15w-50 at O'Reillys on Sunday and it was $5.99 a quart. All Mobile 1 products were on sale at that time. At least here in Ventura anyway... |

+1 on the Mobil 1 report....went to O'Reilly's today....the $5.99/qt Mobil 1 on sale is the auto oil only, in auto weights (5W-20, 10W-30, 10W-40, etc.). The V-Twin Mobil 1 20W-50 full synthetic motorcycle oil is indeed $9.29. I opted for 6 quarts of another brand, on sale for $7.99/qt. It's Castrol Power RS V-Twin 4T 20W-50 full synthetic. It says right on the bottle "for use in Harley-Davidson engines, transmissions, primary chaincases". Anyone out there use it? Any experiences anyone can share regarding this oil, good or bad? It's still sitting in the box in the garage. I can take it back if anyone thinks I should. |

There really is very little difference, if any, between the standard Mobil 1 15w-50 and the "V-Twin" 20w-50, other then the ridiculous price. I've run the 15w-50 in both my engine and primary for 90K miles with no oil related failures. The exception being my 5th gear shaft bearing at 82K, which is a known "weak spot" on the Uly. It really cant be blamed on the quality of the oil. The inside of the engine was spotless with crank bearings in spec and no visible sign of wear on any gears. |

Thanks for the updates. I'll pick up some of the cheaper 15W-50 Mobil 1 and use it (at least) in the engine crankcase. I'll save the "motorcycle" oil for the primary and transmission. $5.99 is a great price for Mobil 1. Standard straight 30-weight oil that I buy for my lawnmower isn't much cheaper. |
