The very expensive 1190RS has 175 hp
The new and less expensive 1190RX has 185 hp
How did they coax 10 more horse out of the less expensive bike?

HP? Evolution of the breed. Tuning, tweaking, refining.

Cost? Showa versus Ohlins, plastics versus carbon fiber, aluminum versus titanium and magnesium - a motorcycle built as a production piece, as opposed to an admitted showcase of handbuilt, limited-production perfection.

Controlled Swirl Induction!!?

My 1982 Yamaha Maxim had YICS.

Yamaha Induction Control System

Worked too, great linear power and gas mileage. That 750 got 62 mpg!

And I wasn't hyper mileing Froggy!

Just think if Froggy had your Yamaha Maxim he would have had to stop & drain out gas as I am sure he would have made more gas than he used.
Just kidding

Did everyone own a Maxim back in the day? My 650 Maxim was my first bike.

Loved it, and sold it for more than what I paid for it.

That was my forth street bike.

69 BSA 441 Victor
78 Yamaha SR 500
78 Yamaha 750 Special
82 Yamaha 750 Maxim

My brother just sold his 82 Yamaha Seca two years ago. It still looked like showroom condition. It's hard to kill those things!

He just got an 09 Uly to replace it!
