My battery has finally died on my 2006 Ulysses. I can't get hold of a Buell battery in Portugal, so what options do I have? Any suggestions for generic battery? |

I wanted one quickly and bought one from a Batteries + Bulbs. They asked if it was for a Harley because, what I bought is commonly used to replace stock Harley batteries. I hope that this helps you out. |

I picked one of these up... http://www.batterymart.com/p-Big-Crank-ETX14-Batte ry.html?Category_Code=buell-xb12x-ulysses-1200cc-b attery Starts on the first try, made it through winter not being on a tender. |

I can't imagine I'll be able to find one of those in Portugal. Thanks for the suggestion, though. |

take old battery to a store and match up the size and location of the posts ? or order from ebay or somewhere on line that will ship it to you. |

I bought 2 batteries from American Sport Bike last year . . . quick, easy and they work great. |

Turf moor. Any decent brand AGM should be fine. For the EU try the Odyssey brand. |

I'm in Portugal so I'll see if I can get an Odyssey. Thanks. |

hmmm... A buddy of mine just replaced an old battery to this Yuasa on his Firebolt a couple of weeks back, no issues so far. What is the problem, shorter lifetime due to the inclined position? |

Uly_man are you being sarcastic or facetious, with regard to that battery suggestion? I'm just replacing a Yuasa YTX14-BS that lasted in my '06 Ulysses for almost 8 years. Another Yuasa YTX14-BS is going back in soon as it arrives. Cost me $50 plus Cal sales tax. |

No, whatever works is good. I also do not recall making any suggestion to anyone else about what battery they should use. I, of course, may have been mistaken in some way? Hard to see how you could be "sarcastic or facetious" over a battery anyway? (Message edited by uly_man on April 03, 2014) |

Uly_man Posted on Thursday, April 03, 2014 - 02:42 pm: Not an AGM or Gel. Pagprivat made the suggestion for the Yuasa battery. You appear to be disparaging AGM and/or Gel type batteries; specifically the Yuasa Yuasa YTX14-BS. Or, did I read more that what was said in the above exchange between yourself and Pagprivat? |

"You appear to be disparaging AGM and/or Gel type batteries; specifically the Yuasa YTX14-BS". No not at all and the reason being is that the Yuasa YTX14-BS is NOT an AGM/ Gel battery it is a sealed wet cell type battery. Use what you like though. |

What does AGM stand for? I always thought it was annual general meeting. |

I bought the big crank and have been happy with it. Would recommend to others. You DO want an AGM or GEL type battery! |

Uly_man, I beg to differ and offer this ( http://www.yuasabatteries.com/batteries.php#anchor mf ) as proof the Yuasa in question, is, in fact, an AGM battery. Go to the products tab and drill down until you find the battery for the Ulysses, then refer to the cross reference chart under which you should see a column labeled AGM . The third battery listed in that column is the YTX14-BS. Further, I assure you that there IS no liquid, in a spillable form, in the Yuasa YTX-14BS. Don't ask me how I know this...
