I'm new to my just bought '09 Uly XT. The speedo seems fast, but it might just be me.

Tell me it's just me!

Both my '08 12R and '09 XT read high. Right around 5 mph at 75. Used to think the cagers were just trying to race me on the interstate, then realized I was the slowpoke.

I own four Buells. I think the maker of the speedometers puts the needle on at 4mph. Consistently 4 mph off through the whole range.

Yup, I always ride 5 mph over speed limit and it's about right.

It's easy enough to test.
Time yourself between the mile markers on the highway and do the math.

Manufacurers need to add some cream on top to avoid liability B.S. I think 5% is standard.

I think the law states they can be off as much as 10% to the slow side and only 1% on the fast side so they err on the safe side!

If you find that law . . . I'd like a copy.

I'll file it with the "law" about HD being required to support Buells for 7 years.

But . . . if you happen to be hauling for business . .

Part 393
