A non-AGM battery WILL expose battery plates when it is tipped in the mounted position.
The plates WILL vibrate and MAY short much sooner than an AGM.
So even though it MAY fit and MAY work, it MAY NOT work as long as a true AGM battery.
All AGM batteries are not the same, AGM technology batteries are not a true AGM battery.

So, as far as I understand, the Yuasa YTX14-BS is in fact an Annual General Meeting type battery, and could be used just fine. (I am by no means a battery expert, and had to google it myself after discussions in this thread)

As it is already bought and in place on my buddy's Firebolt it'll probably stay there until it dies, I'll remember to report back if we see any premature failures : )

Turf_moor,

Make sure your replacement battery has mounts/posts that are flush with the face of the battery. Any recess on the mounts away from the front face puts stress on your cables and complicates (annoying more than anything) an otherwise simple swap.

If you get the Yuasa be ware of the connectors as they are set in so you will need some washers or a specific one for the positive cable.
