Anybody know where to get the little bulb that lights up the speedometer?

There are several, and the backlight bulbs are shorter than the other bulbs in the IC
HD has still has them. You can try radio shack or the like, but those are some small bulbs

Two types of bulbs in the instrument cluster. Part # Y0162.02A8 is the backlight bulb (there are several in the cluster) and Y0163.02A8 is for the warning lights. Same bulbs are used on HD bikes and should be available at your dealer. Nillaice is correct, they are very small.

You think it would be worthwhile to replace them with LEDs?

I did, and am quite pleased with the results. I went with red LEDs for the backlight. It looks nice, is easy on the eyes, and the "hot spots" are less pronounced than with white LEDs.

I recall another BWB member going LED for backlight, but suffering intermittent lighting.

I got my LEDs from American Sport Bike a couple of years ago. Last I checked, they are not on the online catalogue, but there is discussion somewhere about rolling your own.

We don't stock them any more, the source that we got them from got flaky. They became so plentiful on ebay for so little, it didn't make a lot of sense to fight it.

Search ebay on "T3 Neo Wedge" and you'll find them for not very much money. I have no idea how they can make money....I can't touch those shipping costs.

Remember, they're polarized, and usually not marked. So put them in, check it, fix the ones that don't glow, then mark them with a sharpie.

Watch the height on the three backlight ones. If they touch or are too close to the light frame, there's a hotspot on the dash.

I went with red on my dash, and I like it but it isn't as bright as I'd like. I'd bet the newer LEDs are brighter, though.

I bought two of these on ebay but they don't work. Wrong current maybe?

Type: Neowedge Bulbs
Part Number: T3
Color: White, 5500~6000K
Voltage & Wattage: 12-14V DC
Current:0.01mA
Beam Pattern: 180
Lumen: 17lumens, approx 34CD

If it's an LED, it needs to be pointed in one specific direction.

Also, if the advert said ".01 mA" the poster doesn't know what he's talking about.
LEDs are much more efficient than old fashioned bulbs but not THAT efficient.

Anyways, take them out, flip them around 180 and see if they both work.
