I met a fellow Buell enthusiast this past weekend and got to talking. Seems he has a complete XP Police kit (factory sealed) NIB which has been sitting for 3 years. Retail was $2600, dlr cost over $2k. Whatever came in that kit is still in the box. He asked me to make him an offer on it. Did a search but couldn't find much information. What is it's worth? Thx.

I paid $250 for the same kit a few years ago

I also paid about $250 for one off Ebay a few years back. It may have been purchased at the Buell garage sale and re-sold. Only thing missing was the siren driver and that was disclosed. That is probably available from Whelen. I have an XP so it was worth it to me but I have to admit that I can't do much with it except look at the box on a shelf. The exception may be the front emergency lights/bracket that could be converted to driving lamps and the siren in horn mode. That could get more attention than any exhaust system.

I haven't been watching closely but I've not seen one on ebay for a long time. Regardless, I can't see it being worth anything near dealer cost.

If you have the wiring, lightheads, and brain....you can convert the lightheads fairly inexpensively through Whelen, from red/blue to amber, or amber/white, or amber/red, or white(front)/red(rear).

Still just a novelty...but they'd make some bad-ASS hazard flashers!!

The kit (although I'd have to look) was never anywhere near that expensive.

$250 would be the max . . .and . . . before you go nuts, be mindful it's a little like buying a converted Thompson . . . be very well aware of the penalties for lighting them up.

I found out on a Buell demo bike at Daytona and never ever turned them on . . . . just had red and blue lights on an Enforcer.

Ooops.
