I need a replacement key. I went to walmart to make a copy and the guy said they cant do motorcycle keys because they dont know the blank letter. Does anyone know which one to use.

How much are replacement keys from HD?

You can get OEM-looking blanks on ebay pretty cheap or ones lacking the plastic part from a decent lock smith. I don't have the blank number handy, but check the XB sub-forum as it's been posted there in several threads.

Replacement keys from HD are pretty cheap. As I recall, they come as a set of 2 and were less than $20. (This was for my 2009 Uly in 2011.)

Yep you can get a pair of precut keys with your VIN at any Buell dealer for $20, or if you don't mind a different looking key you can get them copied cheaper by any decent locksmith, not Walmart.

$20? Once again think yourself lucky in the US for parts costs. A pair of HD keys in the UK are $50 and a belt is near twice the price. Groooooooooan.

I am usually reluctant to disagree with the Frogmeister, but when I was trying to get a second set of keys I ran all over the state of Washington looking for matching blanks. Nobody had them, not locksmiths, not high end hardware stores, I ended up ordering from HD, and with the serial number they came precut.

Craig- I was able to get the Ilco key blanks at a hole-in-the-wall locksmith in Blairsville, GA (a small town in the mountains of north-east Georgia) a few years ago, so I'd think you can find one almost anywhere. I'm sure it helped that I had the key blank number when I went in. A thread in the XB sub-forum says they're the same blank used on 240 Volvos, so if you ask for that you may have an easier time finding one.

I ordered the key blanks off ebay and asked the guys at Ace hardware to copy them for me. No problems and total cost was probably $10.

I got a set at a local locksmith. But the blanks are for a Triumph. They have to be willing to go match.

If I remember correctly there is a code on your case key (factory supplied cases)
If you contact the manufacturer they can provide spares.
(I may be wrong on this: It's been a while but I recall getting spare keys this way)
