I owned that exact bike, brand new, in 1969. Yup, good ol' dad bought it for me for $1,495 in Riverside, CA. I lived near Hemet at the time.

Sold in 1972 w/13K miles on it after my (first) bad bicycle crash. "I'll never be interested in motorcycles again!"

One of the many that "got away"...

Good luck.

My first road bike was a 1973 CB 750 4. I can see how anyone could have easily crashed that bike. Compared to todays bikes it needed tires, brakes, suspension, stiffer frame, ground clearance, and vibration control. Other than that it was a nice bike.

I pushed mine through a known corner one fine day to have the foot peg/pipes drag so hard that they lifted the rear tire. Good thing it didn't have the grip of today's tires.....that would have ended in a wreck rather than a sideways slide back to the upright position. That was my first real "wreck that didn't happen". It did leave some cool black marks on the pavement.....uh.....and skid marks in my shorts.

I was glad to have it go away when I bought my then brand new '79 CB750F Super Sport. Much better machine in all respects.

Not to drone on, but my old '69 CB750 K1 oversteered (i.e. fell into corners) so badly I was afraid to push it anywhere near as hard as my previous Suzuki X-6 Hustler. So I just enjoyed the ride...

That said, the "FOUR" was the coolest motorcycle going, at least for a while. And---as many have said---it sounded the death knell (temporarily) for the British motorcycle industry. A landmark bike for sure.

Wasn't my first bike but I bought a new 1974 CB750 during my senior year of high school. While in the Marine Corps down at Camp Lejeune I traded that one in on a new 1977 CB750F Super Sport with the black engine. That one is sitting outside at my brother's acreage rotting away. Rode that 750F down to Daytona and back home to Iowa a couple of times. Talk about monkey ass. I surely like the Buell 100 times better.

I question the legality of ownership of this so called prototype bike by the ebay seller.
Or, that it is in fact a prototype.
