I am looking to mount a radar detector on my Uly. Wondering if any of you have done it and what mounts work best. I am thinking about a Beltronics 500 pro and would be interested in your thoughts on that as well. |

Slipstreamer radar mount on left handlebar, sets behind windscreen. Added 3M dual lock tape to bottom of escort 8500 and mounting plate -works great, available from Aerostitch.com. |

I made up a plate attached by velcro to the master cylinder and then velcro on the bottom of the detector to the plate. I also put a rubber band over the top of the detector to the bottom of the master cylinder to keep it from vibrating.

Another option is RAM mounts. Check out their site - lots of different options for attaching electronics. I don't have a radar detector but you may find something that will work. Found a nice mount for an old GPS and my Android phone. |

Well Glenn I must say that looks like a simple and elegant solution. I think I am going to bend up some aluminum and go that route. I might add a little rubber to dampen the vibration it looked like a good idea I will copy from techmounts. |

Yes, direct unobstructed view for the detector to the road, cheap and easy to make and I had all the materials on hand. Make sure you use the heavy duty hook and loop Velcro. Radio Shack sells it. A thicker piece of stock than I used will help with the vibration too along with the rubber you mention. Neither the plate nor the detector has ever slipped off. Good luck! |

Why bother? The Uly is non-ferrous, it's plastic and aluminum. We have one of those 'your speed is...." signs near me, and I can routinely get within about five feet (at highway speeds) of the sign before it even knows I'm there. |
