This afternoon I went to my nearest hd dealer to order some parts. They said they can't order them anymore which was a real slap in the face. They not a hd buell approved dealer but Ive ordered parts through them before. Not cool. |

According to several in the know here, it's been at least several years prior to the 2009 closure since a non-Buell HD dealer was allowed to order Buell parts. Not your dealer's fault. I recommend you order from American Sport Bike. Al carries just about any OEM part you'll ever need. That way the parts get shipped to your door and you don't have to make a trip to order and then another trip to pick them up. |

I would love to see lots of dealerships stocking or at least ordering Buell parts. Lets face it, there aint that many Buells out there. With that in mind, if one dealer gets enough business to stay interested and even passionate about Buells and Buell parts, I will support that dealer. The one I support is American Sport Bike. They are passionate about your parts and all things Buell. |

Most dealers do not carry much more than service and common parts anymore. This is due to the fact that they have to pay for parts first and that is money on the shelf IE Dead money. The days of being able to walk into a dealer and buy what you want "off the shelf" are long since gone and you may as well get used to it. A good example of this is that my wife was in Miami last year and no matter how many HD dealers she went to she could not buy me a AKF belt. The best way is to order, pay over the phone and collect or have it shipped direct to you. Better still is the use Al. (Message edited by uly_man on December 28, 2013) |

I have had the same experience with Pikes Peak. They'll sure as hell try to sell you on the new Harley's while you're there though. |

The problem in many states is "inventory taxes". Dealers have to pay taxes on their inventory every year so they don't stock much. I went in a Harley shop in New York state and they had crap on the walls, hanging from the ceiling and racks of parts. I asked them if New York had inventory taxes and they said, what's that? They claim that internet sales are killing the small businesses but if I could walk into a store and buy what I want and walk out I'd do it but with inventory taxes they always have to order it. Well hell, I can stay home and order it and it shows up on my door step. It's not the internet folks, it's government taxes causing the problem. Go figure... |
