My buddy Derick and I take an annual ride the weekend before Halloween every year rain or shine. This year we got pretty lucky with the weather down here in Portland and decided an eastern Oregon trip was in order. Here is the route overview (we bypassed Condon on the way back due to rain)
We both took our Buell Ulysses's. Mine is the white 2006 and his the red 2008.

The route

We headed out at 8:30 from the Sylvan Chevron and took 26-> 84 -> 26 again over Mt. Hood. It was pretty misty and foggy in areas but then right at the base, it completely cleared up and was sunny.

Pretty low key ride over to the east towards Maupin. Got gas out of the red container which was non ethanol 92 octane. Sweet!

The guard dog at the gas station

On towards Antelope. Roads were in great shape with debris in some corners but not terrible.

Stopped for lunch in Antelope after the short but insanely fun road between Shainko and Antelope

On towards Condon

A few of these may be mixed up in order as Photobucket crashed during the upload : (

Towards Hepner

On to Pendleton for the night. Nothing really special about it, just a big enough town for a decent hotel and a brewery. Watch the Ducks pound UCLA there with some good local stouts.
Next morning now called for some rain so we packed up and were on the road at 9:00. Out the old highway from Pendleton. It was a very goaty road with lots of rocks from the canyon but beautiful.

Then we saw the storm the forecast was talking about. It got VERY windy and we had to lean over pretty far just to stay straight. Made the corners very interesting.

Stopped here to put away the phone and get some rain gear on. The wind was so strong, we had to park the bikes facing the wind for fear it would blow them over.

Put the camera away for awhile while we got dumped on. Decided to bust up to 84 outside of Arlington and fought some nasty winds to The Dalles. Stopped for some coffee and the rain started again but the winds died down.

Not a bad ride to Portland besides some traffic on the 405.

Stats
Just under 600 miles over two days. Most of those on the first with the sun!

Nice ride report. Thanks. I enjoyed the pics. How's the plasti dip holding out? Looks good. Think I'm going to do a similar job to mine.

Nice pictures & what a fun trip Goldtooth! yeah, that is one of my favorite areas & general "loops" to ride.. I recognize just about every photo-stop/op you made. That long high plains stretch out of Heppner I affectionately named the "spirit road".. dunno' why exactly, maybe because it's so beautiful and desolate with "five mountain" views on a clear day..

I recognize a lot of those places as well. Eastern oregon is close for me and the roads are better than anything we have here in idaho. I thought I have a picture identical to one of yours but not quite. This is just outside of Hepner, did 600 miles on the Uly that day.

I like the white plasti dip, I may have to copy you.

Nice ride report, thanks for posting.

Assuming both Ulys ran flawlessly?

Beautiful country that way! B.

Nice pic Dave! Yep I do love the roads out there. Most corners you have a better view of the exit then in NW Oregon where there are trees in most corners.

Twistygirl, yep both Uly's ran perfect sans the red one had to be jumped Sat morning as he did not ride it or charge it for a few weeks.

Again, thanks for posting about your ride Goldtooth. It is a reminder of how much fun motorcycling can be, especially with the fantastic shots.
