Went down to Talimena Scenic Drive. Great trip, Uly ran good, ran even better once I started putting Lucas upper cylinder treatment in every tank. Burned about 1/4 qt of oil. Rained on us on the return trip but its all good. Ran into some of the thickest fog ever ridden in, pulled off when we found a turn out. Wife rode her new Triumph Tiger                        | ||

The wife's tiger got better fuel mileage....I have ridden her Triumph quite a bit and its just flat out a fun bike. It is very sporty and carves twisties very well. I does well on gravel and is fast. I will admit the triple is a very sweet sound and very responsive. It took a lot to get her to give up her HD sportster but now that she has some miles on her triumph i think its the bike for her. The gearing is short but you can run through all 6 fast. 75mph is about 5200rpm. The braking system is very very good on the Tiger. i took the mountains roads much more aggressively than she did but a good rider on her triumph would have had no problem leaving me far behind on my uly. The Tiger is a just flat out a really good bike. I guess thats why its so popular. Its been cutting deep into the BMW 800 market. But my Uly Rawks and it did just fine carving and twisting......still love my Uly. In the mountains the uly's tractor like low end torque pulls you up and through the passes with authority as long as you don't lug the motor down. The longer the Uly ran the better it ran. | ||

How tall is your wife? I looked at a Tiger in a shop when I looked at the Ducati Hyperstrada and the Tiger seemed huge to me, at least as tall as the Uly. | ||

She is 5'6 I lowering kit on it for her. Hers is the Triumph tiger 800 not the 1200 Explorer. i think you might be thinking of that one....it is just as tall as the Uly | ||

No, I was looking at the 800. Both it and the BMW F800GS struck me as overly large, although I have not seen either side by side with the Uly. | ||

The lowering links I put on were easy to install and she sits completely flat footed on her Triumph Tiger. After lowering yo will need to put the adjustable side stand on it for it have a safe lean angle or it will sit very up right on you. | ||

Doesn't the Tiger 800 come in two flavors, one with shorter susp and lower seat, another with longer susp and higher seat? (kind of like Uly's) | ||

Yes....the XC and the roadie. The roadie is shorter but for my wife who is 5'6 it still needed to be lowered. Prior she could touch the ground but with the tips of her toes. Afterward completely flatfooted with the lowering links installed. For me after riding the Uly nothing it too tall anymore  |
