Looking for a new color as yellow was getting old. I wanted some flexibility before commiting to a color so I decided to Plasti dip the plastics so I could peel it off if I did not like it. So far, I am loving the white. Gonna paint it permanent this winter.

A strange beast that is! And brilliantly shot in front of birch trees. How fast is white?

I understand the Native Americans used birch bark on their bikes to make them look white.

Looks pretty good, and there's probably not another white Uly on your block!

That is pretty sweet. I think I'll give this stuff a try. Did you rough the plastics before you sprayed it on?

Nice look!

My buddy Wolfridgerider did his Uly in white plastics a while back, and I always liked the way it looked.

Let us know how it holds up. I am going to check into this method of coloring stuff.

No you don't do anything, that is the beauty. Peel it off if you don't like it, back to stock. Wash it with soap and water and wipe with alcohol for prep.

I noticed you are running the top box without the side brackets. You do not want to do this. I did and it broke the metal frame that runs under the seat up to the main frame. The side bag mounts brace every thing and reduce the vibrations that crack the metal. Mine did take a few months but it broke.

That looks great.
You should stick a Fridgidaire logo on there.

I get what you are saying but have been running it like that for 20K miles. I only carry gear in there. Thanks for the heads up though!

As much as I like the white, it's just not a Uly's color because they are suppose to be ridden and dirty. White Justs shows the dirt too much!

The Uly gets ridden but not too much in the really dirty stuff. That is what this is for-

Now if I could just solve the starter hesitation issues, I would be pretty happy!

What does the finish look like close up? Is it smooth and glossy just like a paint job? Does it feel rubbery or sticky? Do you think it will last or will it just start peeling around the edges? How does it stand up to gas spills? That's all I have right now, sorry.

Thanks!

Anybody know if this stuff works on leather? i.e. I've the yellow seat and I'm looking to make my Uly faster.

PlastiDip doesn't hold up well to friction, so I wouldn't put it on a seat.

Will the Plasti-Dip on the airbox cover hold up to having a tank bag riding on it?

I really like that white. And I like the way you color keyed the scoops and comfort panel.

How hard was it to mask off the raised logo?

I dont want to be a copy cat, but ive had it planned out to do exactly what you did this winter. I also hope to repair my bags from scratches and color paint the accents on the bags white as well. I also plan to just remove the badges and take them somewhere and get vynal stickers made to replace them hopefully.

Anyway, beautiful bike really is.

Thanks guys, looks like we will see a rash of white Uly's! Just stay out of Portland! : )

It is pretty durable after it has cured for awhile and I think it would hold up to a tank bag. I just washed mine in prep for a trip tomorrow and it scrubbed up good.
It would not work well on leather. There is a guy on ebay selling Uly seat covers in any color. Check him out.

I did not mask the logo, you just use a razor after to cut around it and peel it off of the logo.
