Hi Everyone, I recently purchased a 2006 uly and my low beam is not functioning. I want to remove the headlight assembly, I have tried to remove the torx bolt under the fender but it just turns but does not loosen. Is there a nut on that bolt? I read the manual but it does not say. If there is a nut on that bolt how do I access it? Thanks for the help, Jeff G. |

There are three Torx size 27 screws holding the headlamp assembly on, one on the bottom of the beak, and the other two are on the sides, there little holes in the flyscreen mount is where you stick the driver. It should be as simple as loosening the screws, but if yours is just turning without loosening, it sounds like whatever secures it inside the headlamp assembly is broken, there normally isn't any separate nut to hang onto. |

You should be able to unbolt the fender from the forks and pull the headlight with fender as one piece. That should get it on the workbench at least. |

The nut is in the fender. I had the same problem. As mentioned, remove the fender/beak along with the headlights. Try and spray some WD 40 or other product to penetrate the nut. I had to grab the screw with small vice grips and either push or pull on it to keep the nut from turning. Once it came out I was able to epoxy the nut in the fender. When you reassemble use some anti-seize on the screw. Good luck! |

BTW, you don't actually need to remove the assembly to replace the bulb. Curved hemostats will get the clippy thing released from the side. |

If you do decide to remove the entire assembly, be careful to note its current position (i.e., headlight alignment). I removed the whole thing to replace a bulb, and wound up having my headlights illuminating the sky ahead of me instead of the road.... |

Unfortunately, I believe they assembled this with locktight (thread locker), and the "nut" is held in place by being inbedded in the plastic of the headlight housing. The plastic let loose before the locktight. As others have said, you don't have to remove this bolt to replace the lamp. This screw is a mounting point and the head light adjustment (up/down). Without being able to loosen and tighten this screw, it's hard to aim your headlight. You could try heat (from a soldering pencil/gun directly on the screw head. Good Luck. |
