One of these days I am going to do a ride report on all the experiences I have had on the Uly over the years, maybe I'll get it done by the time it turns ten. The bike sat parked today, but just got back from a five day ride. The bike is a champ. A bit slower to start these days but like every trip over the last eight years, it has brought me home as long as I don't throw it off a mountain. But heck, that is ancient history, six years and 45,000 miles ago. Just shy of 65,000 miles now and fourteen rear tires, seven front tires, four clutch levers, two sets of bags, and one set of rear wheel bearings later, it has been a great ride.

Rock on Carlos! Mine turns 4 in a few days, and she's brought a lot of smiles to me. Hoping to keep her around for a number of years!

Sweet! Write that report.

(And if you are riding in the mountains, bring about 100 feet of tie downs and a spare foot peg mounting bracket or two. : ) )

I did an 820+ mile day from Copper Harbor to Lebanon Ohio on the Uly, and couldn't believe what a great job it did under a bunch of different circumstances.

Hi Carlos! Good to hear from you and that you got to make another multi day trip on the Uly.

Me and my Uly are right there with you(except for the cliff toss of course!).....but then.....I was there for that!

Being a teen in the seventies I never would have thought about buying a motorcycle for a 100,000 miles, over a ten to fifteen years, journey. It seems like 100,000 + mile bikes were fairly rare back then.

The Buell Ulysses motorcycle, uniting good people since 2005~2006!

Reep - My best day on the Uly was 720 miles but this year I pulled a 690 mile day. I do better in cool weather and this past June it was cool enough to ride from Cincinnati to eastern NC with all vents closed. I could have easily hit 1000 miles that day.

Vern - Yeah! I really never thought about keeping the Uly this long but I do not ride enough these days to replace it, plus replacing it will be hard. The bikes out there that I like all cost an arm and leg. There are several budget bikes I think I will like, but fear I will miss the Uly whatever I replace it for. I figured I have a couple more years at least to think about it and some time to write that ride report.

"A decade on a Uly."

I need to log some more miles and add to the ten state count I have ridden it to. Maybe I will celebrate its tenth year with a cross-country ride. : )

Gotta love the Uly for sure. One of my longest days was about 760 miles.

Started out at 5 am from Homecoming and made it home at 10 pm. Of course it may have been quicker had I not broken my ribs and sprained my ankles at Road America on the demo bikes the previous day. Talk about "limp home!" And then there was a bridge closure costing me an extra limping 80 miles or so.

I have done so many 400 mile days over the years, and never left my neighborhood.

Not much riding at all the past two years though. I am needing to get some help for my business so that I can ride again. I just haven't had time to ride, and when I may have, I was just too tired.

Cross country ride.....hmmmmmmmm.....

I understand not having time to ride. The first four years I rode the Uly a 1000 miles a month. Now I'll do good to break 5000 miles a year. Memorial day weekend 2011 I broke 55,000 miles and haven't made an addition 10,000 miles yet. That said, this year I am doing better. I am about to break 6000 miles this year though my riding season is just about over. Between work and family, I doubt I'll do much more than an occasional local ride.

Crossing the country sound pretty good doesn't it? A long shot at this point but I like the sound of it.

It has always been on my wish list of rides to do. A couple of ten year old Uly's would make an interesting story as well as a fun ride.

My Ulysses is 8 too.
Though, I've owned it for only 7 1/2 years.

Yeah! This could become an event. Meet up with 10+ years old Buells along the way.

Still in love with my 2006. It's sitting with around 65,000 on it now and it's scheduled to be ridden to Alaska next summer, in 2014. Looking forward to the ride!

Carlos you are getting a lot more riding in that I have the past couple of years. I haven't done 1800 miles in that period. My mileage is now at 59,955. I have been trying to cross the 60,000 mark for this past two year period. Lame eh?

If I had continued as it was the first five years it would now be at 85,000 to 90,000.

Maybe tomorrow I will get on it to cross the 60 mark. I have a little tradition that I started with this bike. Everytime I hit a 10,000 mile mark I have done a wheelie to celebrate. Problem is.....since I have not been riding much I probably forgot how!

"Uly turns eight".

It is just my opinion but given what I know about other bikes, new and old, I see no reason why you should not get 20 years plus and/or 1000k miles plus out of this bike. And even then it should be in a fair/decent condition if you treat/look after it well.

The Uly is a superb build and as good as any on the market today. Of course the bike has had some problems but most of these are due to other factors IE Product development, some (HD) dealers, owner expectations, etc.

At the end of the day there are no bikes that give as much "bang for bucks" as a XB in the 1000cc range. I know I tried to find one after my 06 bike was stolen.

Treasure your Uly as this bike will NOT come this way again at these prices. Economic fact.

Only 19,100 on my 06 Uly, which I bought in Feb 08 with zero miles on it for a snip at Riders in Bristol, England. I haven't been on it since August last year as I haven't put it on Portuguese plates yet following my move. This will happen in January and then it will be like having a new bike. I aim to rotate the two bikes week by week. I've missed the Uly. I can't ever imagine selling it.

My Ulysses is a 2006 and lived a pretty quiet life for the first 6.5 years. It only had 14.800 miles on it when I bought it. It closing in on 30.000 now. A lot of that on the back wheel. I cant imagine ever selling it but I realize I may someday be to old to get my leg over it. I'm 5'10''. Also I am almost 55 and wonder just how long I will retain the skill set necessary to do wheelies on it. The police seem to think I should have stopped long ago.

Hey, Carlos. Yep, I'm a hopeless Uly addict too. I put 26000 miles on my 06 before she had to find a new owner due to the recession. My longest ride was a little over 400 miles with my buddy Vern. My longest assisted trip was when Vern drove me to pick up an 08 Uly in Chicago, January 2011. Problematic and stubborn at times, I don't know of another bike I'd enjoy more than my Uly.

Well Crap! Literally.

I just came back from what was to be a nice little Sunday ride with Orangulius and Gotj that should have been about 100 + miles. That would have put my uly over the 60,000 mile mark. But NNNNOOOOOOoooooo! I gotta feel ill and have to come home after about 25 miles or so.

The damn thing is still 11 miles short of the 60,000 mark!

I really thought it would pass it today. Not gonna happen while I am suffering a gut churning, gurgling, odoriferous, out house ride! Sombich-pile-of-monkey-nuts!

I did get in a couple of wheelies just in case!

I hope you feel better soon Vern.

Pulling the Uly out tomorrow to ride it to work. I have 2 1/2 months to ride just under 300 miles so at least I can say I rode 5000 miles this year. Sad.
