I have a 2008 XB12X with an aftermarket Corbin Gunfighter and Lady seat. The seat gets so hot that it actually melts my jeans to the seat? Is this normal? If not, short of installing the comfort kit, is there any fix? I have the heat shield blanket under the seat. Any help or insight would be greatly appreciated.

I have eliminated virtually all heat for no bucks. This will not work for a vertically challenged rider. Do search for uly high seat position. Came up number 8 hit. Ran all summer, butt cool, under seat cooler with multiple readings. Fan ran less. More seat height. No sliding forward. ECU protected. Took 30 minutes. I can't paste the link tonight.

The Corbin is a thin seat. It will transmit much more heat than a stock seat will.

If you're going to stick with the Corbin, get the comfort kit. It's well worth the money.

If you're going to stick with the Corbin, get the comfort kit.

You should probably get the updated ECM flash as well (if your bike doesn't already have it) that causes the fan to run at speeds above 15 MPH.

Another thing that helps immensely even after adding the comfort kit (especially if you don't have the updated fan logic) is to close off the right side frame opening above the rear rocker cover. A LOT of hot air blows up through there and from there under the seat. The comfort kit actually funnels more air through this opening.

I used adhesive backed aluminum HVAC tape, double layered over the rocker cover so it doesn't stick to the engine.

Could you post a photo of the underside of the Corbin seat?
How stout are the posts that hold it away from the electrics underneath?
