Okay, I'm getting o-rings right from the dealer so they must be right. Second change on the primary in as many weeks due to starter problem. I'm checking for leaks after running a little and see a little rubber tail hanging off the drain plug. I mean really, good thing I use thread sealant too but shouldn't there be enough of a chamfer in the hole to accept the o-ring?

Should be enough to allow oring in.but I still cut them . I tossed the o ring thing first year. O reillys has different styles of 1/2- 20 drain bolts . I chose a flanged style, used copper washers, sealer as normal, and torque up at 125 inch pounds. No leaks, no stripped holes either.

i use a bit of teflon tape on the las 3-4 threads and leave the original O ring, that way teflon works as a seal, doesen't get inside the primary and makes life easier when taking it out, never had any issue in over 56k kilometers.
