Anybody tried connecting a GalaxyS3 with a cardo Q2? I can get the phone in my helmet but not the GPS directions. Help!

I've got the same Cardo system, and I've had the same issue since I got it. Tried multiple cell phones and GPS-only units, to no avail. Like yours, the phone works just fine, but nothing from the GPS. I understood that with the old units, but I have a Droid 4 and Google Nav still doesn't come through.

I hope you can figure this out.

That is Google Maps fault.

quote:

Google Maps does not support Bluetooth at this time EXCEPT when you make or accept a call during "NAVIGATION MODE".The navigational voice will continue to call out directions but now it will come through your Bluetooth EVEN WHILE YOU ARE CONVERSING!

Ditch Google Maps, it is worthless, I recommend using Waze instead

Thanks, Froggy. Figures....

I'll check out Waze. So that does work with BT comms systems then?

It works fantastic over bluetooth, I use it on both my Scala G9 and the bluetooth in my truck. It will give you audio alerts of police/accidents/hazards too. The map is completely editable, so if it gives wonky directions or something doesn't look right either you or I can fix it for free, no waiting months for Google to figure it out. That is really nice for when roads are closed for long term construction, they can be fixed on the map within 48 hours and it won't route you near it till the construction is completed and someone changes it back.

Are you playing music at the same time?

Music can play at the same time as Waze, I have Waze and Pandora going at the same time, Pandora gets mostly muted when Waze starts talking.

Are you sure it is connected when Waze is talking? It is possible that the phone is disconnecting the headset due to inactivity, then when Waze goes to announce it is not going over bluetooth. If you go to the bluetooth settings in Android it will list paired devices, if it is connected it will explicitly say it, otherwise it may just be paired but not connected.

I know on my Scala G9, I can press the "A" button and it will reconnect if the phone ever drops it.

I only asked because a couple of my devices now default to headset mode (for phone calls only) when they pair for some reason when they worked fine in the past (probably some update to Android, Sprint's bloatware or the devices' firmware.) I find that I can manually disconnect and pair them to get media back. I was curious if it was just GPS that won't come through or all media.

I haven't linked up to my Q2 in a while, but I'll give it a try tonight to see if I can troubleshoot any issues that I may have.

Also, if you are using an older Q2 that doesn't use A2DP, that might be your problem.

It is several years old. How do I know if it has A2DP? I get the phone but not waze. Haven't even tried music. Don't want it.

Can't wait for Waze to allow you to build your own route online, then sync it to the navigation device, and have control over if and when it punts and recalculates the route. Oh, and it also has to cache maps for when I might not have a signal.

I was given a broken Zumo (easy to fix, but likely to die again, and the owner needs to be able to ride from Seattle to Labrador without wondering when his GPS is going to go tits up again). I look forward to using it.

But Waze could still kick it's but 6 ways to sunday if it would just cache maps and let me completely control the routing.

Waze does cache the maps, my phone has map data that is over a year old and I can get to it just fine in airplane mode. It will still route as best as it can offline, then if you ever get back online it pulls fresh maps and routing data from the server.

All Q2 models have A2DP as far as I know, I can't find any information on their website that says otherwise.

Try the music and see if it streams through. If it doesn't, go to your bluetooth settings and see how the device is paired ("headset mode, no media" or whatever the Samsung description of that profile is.) Try to reconnect the phone as a media device if that is the case, and that may work.

As far as whether or not your Q2 is A2DP compatible, it should be listed with the original specs for your Q2, probably under "hands free" or "headset" compatibility or some similar heading.

Pretty sure the Q2 doesn't have A2DP. I say that without looking at the manual, but I do remember that it was only after having it for a little while when I realized that it may be an issue.

One of the other benefits of this feature is having your music in stereo through the head set. I was hoping to get rid of my separate earbuds (*which I never wear*) and hook my iPod right to the Q2. Sans A2DP its a no-go.

A2DP was added to the Q2's specs at some point, but there was a stretch when the compatibility wasn't there.

The GPS voice directions, even though in mono, is treated just like media on the smart phones I am familiar with (including your S3). Without A2DP, it just won't work. That is why I suggest trying to use the music player on the phone. If you can't play music, you can't get GPS.
