Well, resistance is futile, I have been assimilated.

I traded my Uly in on a HD Switchback last week. It was a mixed emotions day. I wanted a Uly since the day I saw my first one in '06, but after 3 years of tweaking it to fit me better, I finally gave in and listened to the rest of my family tell me to 'just get a Harley.' Ultimately, it was too tall, even when lowered, and not comfortable enough for my wife and I to ride for longer trips. That's not what the Uly was built for, but I tried. I know I could add a bigger windshield or other things to get the wind off me, but that isn't what I think of when I picture a Uly.

Like I said it look my 3 years of tweaking, and the dealer didn't get any of those extra parts. I'll be listing a bunch of parts in the next week. I want to get them cleaned up and shipping estimated before I post them. The list will include:
Custom belly pan
Orange front fender
Carbon fiber air scoop
Oil dipstick with temp gauge
Low seat

There is more, but I can't remember them all.

I'm not going away, I will be lurking to keep up to speed on the EBRs. This is the place where the secrets show up first. Thanks for all the help along the way.

Ride safe,
Jason

My wife and I went down to the Kansas City, Missouri Harley-Davidson Manufacturing Plant on Saturday for their annual open house event.
I demo'd the 2014 UltraGlide Limited with the water cooling. What a nice bike. Smoothest Harley I've ever ridden and quite powerful. I know you will enjoy the Switchback because that 103 engine has plenty of get up and go and tractor power.

Refresh my memory, is the switchback on a Dyna frame or a Sportster?

The switchback is a nice bike, and I'm sure it will serve you well. Curious how much the dealer gave you for the Uly?

Tootal... Dyna frame

Jstay... That was the reason the Uly was traded. I had not intentions of buying new. I went to the dealer so my wife could test ride the back seat on a few models. They dealer offered me to make it worth my whole to trade and buy a left over 13. He ended up giving me 5065 for it. It is an 06 with 24k on the clock. I always thought I'd keep it until it died. But money talked. It will end up on eBay.

I am sure it is a nice bike but, and do not get me wrong as I like all bikes, it has about as much in common with a Uly as "chalk and cheese". Put it this way. Not many would compare a BMW GS 1200 to a BMW RT1200R. Or a Uly to a Road King, Glide or other HD in the current range. Pick a bike that works for you rather than the other way around. I hope you enjoy your new bike.
