So I blew a stator, upgraded the stator and r/r. Now what used to be an excellent ride seems wrong somehow. It seems like she vibrates more. Is it all in my head? The other thing I noticed today was a KLAK as I rolled it into storage and grabbed the break.I can't see the isolator myself is it supposed to be that loud or is it gone. I just want my ride back.

Well, changing the stator requires you to disassemble and reassemble the primary. Part of the reassembly process is adjusting the primary chain. A poorly adjusted primary chain (too loose) can cause excessive vibration. I'd start by checking the primary chain adjustment.

What torque did you use to tighten the crank nut? There was some wrong information in some of the older service manuals.

Reep-I think it was 155-200 ft/lbs if I remember right.
Hugh It was shifting rough so I checked the chain and it was loose, so I did an adjustment and have yet to ride. You may be on to something. I really only notice at Idle and my hands shake more than I remember them shaking. Could all be in my head too.

That toque sounds right... close to 200 ft lbs. Otherwise the stator bell can get loose which could *maybe* sort of explain your symptoms. So unless you have doubts about the torque, that probably isn't the problem.

It was foot pounds, not inch pounds, right? Pretty much taking a 2 foot breaker bar and cranking on that sucker until veins start to burst...

The crankshaft nut torque change applies only to 06/07 Ulys. The torque requirement went up from something like 195-205 to 245-255 ft-lbs. The 08-up bikes (like his 09) use a stretch bolt (one time use) and a lower torque figure.
