Well i have now had my Uly for 14 months now and rode it 300 days or so back and forth to work. About 60 miles RT. In all weather types here in kansas except snow and ice. My 2002 EFI HD Ultra has been just sitting.... The Conti Motion tires I put on it about 5k miles ago are wearing well. Lots of tread left. Mainly chip seal and gravel roads. Good traction wet or dry. I have to say in the rain i have been very impressed as the grip has been really good. I hammer down on the 2 miles or so of gravel road before getting to the hard ball. The bike has some quirks like an engine light that comes on then goes off. Sometimes weeks in between events but I never notice any performance change so I just keep going. Then when I restart it again....its off. Yes it sputters and coughs sometimes mainly when making a left hand turn from a stopped position. Some oil around the air breather when I check the filter and blow it out. I just wipe it off and put it back together. I run some Chem B-12 every 4 or 5 tanks. I hammer this bike a lot, 80+ mph daily in twisty country roads. I did replace the belt when I put new tires on. It runs the same for me on 87-91 octane fuels. The heat issues in summer I just except and deal with. I did find that I burn about 1/2 quart of oil over the life of the oil change of about 4k miles or so. I filled the bars with silicone and got some grip puppies with gel filled gloves and that has helped vibes a lots for my. I am happy and to be honest when the new KTM 1190 R hits America I am trading in my Ultra and keeping my Uly.....unless it suddenly starts to be a PITA for me but so far (Knock on wood) I really like it. Trying to get my wife to trade in her HD Sportster for a 08 Lightning I saw with <1k miles....But she takes a hard opinion on Buells. I guess in the end she can ride what she wants but I am locked in hard to the Adv bike life. I just Eric would throw us some love in the Adv bike area | ||

Cool and I have no wish to spoil things but? "engine light that comes on then goes off" and "Yes it sputters and coughs sometimes mainly when making a left hand turn from a stopped position". It should not be doing either of those things. It may be worth looking into those issues at some point. |
