A few days ago, when backing Uly out of garage, I noticed a slight clicky noise. I jacked up the rear and when slowly rotated I hear this noise. Took the wheel off and the bearings felt smooth (rotating by hand). Put wheel on without belt (no tension), and noise was gone. Put belt on, no noise. Went for a ride and the slight clicky noise was back. I've been monitoring this for a few days and can't tell what is the cause. It might even be the, fairly new, belt engaging the teeth on the sprocket. Is this normal? |

The belt on my '06 Uly will make some noise when backing the bike, when cold. I guess the noise could be a click sound. Spray some clean water on the belt & sprockets. If the noise stops, I would not be concerned. I mean the worst that can happen is the belt breaks... |

One other oddity I noticed with belts is after riding it in the rain and parking it in a garage overnight, the belt will be tight as hell. Again, shooting it with a hose makes it normal tension. I think this is a build up of that grey crap that's all over after riding in the rain. |

Natexlh1000, You must have that leather aftermarket belt the Chinese are selling. I crack myself up. |

When I replaced my belt 2 years ago, it made a clicking sound when backing it up for a while. After a while, the noise went away, so I'm guessing it was just the newness of the belt... |

I just now went out to try the water test, but it's not currently making that noise. Thanks for the comments & suggestions. I now believe it's just belt noise, and not the bearings. |
