We have all seen the horror stories about the junk one can buy for the Uly. What, if anything, have people bought that they can recommend as a positive purchase and or a quality accessory for the Uly.

I purchased the Kuryakyn bag for mine & I must say this has to be the most versatile bag I have ever seen. It is an awesome back rest for one up and flips to the rear for use w/ two up. It takes about two minutes lock down and also has a water proof cover. If I didn’t know better, I would have to say this was made special for the Uly. Guess what? It only cost about 1/5th the cost of the factory bags. Good buy.

One other item I would highly recommend is the factory race kit. This is a lot of bang for the buck (ECM/pipe/filter) as compared to a can only purchase. If the stock pipe is = to a cup of coffee than its safe to say the race kit is > than 3 cans of Jolt Cola added to ones right wrist. This is how the bike should have come from the factory IMHO.

Any other items that people can recommend and why would be greatly appreciated.

I'm glad it took over three months of waiting for my standard tank bag because when the '07 website came up and I saw they had the Deluxe I canceled the standard and a couple of weeks later I had the Deluxe on my bike.

I may glue it to the airbox cover since I don't ever see myself riding without it. Love it.

As great a buy as I think that bag is though, the biggest caliber bullet I've ever bit sight unseen was my R/S Scoop.

NO regrets, none, nada, nicht, no matter how much it cost. Naysayers and doubters can naysay and doubt all they want. I have one and it works and that's all I care about.

Uh, what IS an Air Hawk seat pad?

Cee Bailey +2.5" windshield.
Looks great, works even better. Really makes the bike much nicer at high speeds without the barn door look.
I highly recommend it!

I have the Buell under seat pack also which is a great little organizer.

I had mine mounted on the rear seat for a while but was a bit difficult for me mounting and dismounting the bike, and when riding 2 up ya got to put it somewhere else so I came up with the tailrack

Fubar,

Do the bar ends help stabilize the mirrors?

HVMP Bar Ends stabilize the mirrors VERY well.

The HVMP ends also help to protect the bike in a drop or a slide. GREAT product. Great compliment to Dark Horse Moto Axle Sliders, too!

For a tail bag, I use a T-Bags "Stowaway". I leave it on the bike at all times. When it is empty it is very compact and does not flap or flop around. When I need to carry something, it quickly expands.

1st: GPS, Garmin 76CS (primarily the 76CS because it does double duty as a back up chartplotter when sailing) mounted on the Touratech mount. I usually keep the display set to read speed, bearing, and time in large numbers but I also use it for routing and finding services.

2nd: Pia 1100X driving lights. These things look cool, generate massive amounts of lights, and I have received several comments on how visible I am during the day.

I also use a very small Marsee bag attached to the cross bar on the handlebars. It will hold my cell phone, garage door opener, and sunglasses, but she's packed full with all that. Only complaint with it was that it appears to be designed for a very thick bar so I had to do some engineering. Great little bag none the less.

I also like my HID conversion. It makes all the difference in the lighting for me. It also reduces the wattage drag on the electrical system by 20w leaving room for some other accessory.

+1 to Dust_buster on the PIAA extreme white bulbs. 1000 times better than stock. I work at night and live in the boonies with no street lights or pavement. Stock headlight bulbs were non existent when it came to light output.

aux lights and grip heaters. I also added the euro silverstars, and they make a huge difference over the stock bulbs.

Al at american sport bike has a great set of grip heaters at a reasonable price.

I have run 2 heated vests, grip heaters, gps, and aux lights with no problem. I wouldnt want to sit in traffic with all this on, but when running, it seems to stay charged fine.

Anybody use a radar/laser detector? I've seem to have a hard time keeping my bike at legal speeds and am thinking about getting one.

My buddy has a fancy new radar detector on his FJR1300. All kinds of noises and beeps.

It didn't help yesterday because Mr. CHP was well hidden and by the time the alarm started going off it was too late.

The good news is the rest of us got off with just a warning.

My modified CeeBailey 16+ handlebar mounted windshield. It stabilizes the left mirror because it is up against the mirror stalk. I cable tied a piece of foam to the mirror stalk where it contacts the shield and it makes the mirror clear at all speeds. No kidding.

Best Accessory:

1. Buell hard luggage. Cavernous, easy on/off, lockable, watertight.

2. RAM GPS mount for my Garmin V GPS.

Why? Because I like to go places with my Ulysses. Luggage and GPS are good to have.

Best (and cheapest) accessory: Buell traction grips. They're only about $15, and they feel remarkably better than the stock grips. I'd get some throttle wrist ache after only 20 miles or so with the stock grips, but I feel no discomfort at all with the traction grips.
