My son's 07 has about 20K on it now and the front cylinder quit firing. Lucky enough it was at home so he hadn't ridden it on one cylinder. I went to the closest motorcycle joint and they didn't have a NGK DCPR8E in stock and directed me to check CarQuest across the street. They had Champion RA6HC on hand so we got one for less than $3. It cross references to the NGK DCPR8E which crosses to the HD 10R12A.
Anyways, Gapped it to spec. Anti seized the threads. Changed it out and the bike fired right up to a strong idle and runs fine. So his bike has an HD 10R12A in the rear and a Champion RA6HC in the front. Anybody see a problem with this or should we go out to Harley and get the 10R12A? In investigating online I found a chart that shows the V-Rod uses the same plug as the Uly but the closest HD dealer (non-buell) said they didn't carry the HD 10R12A which the chart says is the standard plug. That dealer is within walking distance and the Buell/H-D dealer is about 1/2 hour distance. http://www.harley-performance.com/harley-spark-plu g.html

So I just called the non Buell Harley dealer that is just a few blocks away and asked them if they had a spark plug for a V-Rod on hand.

They asked what year and I just blurted out "2009".

They looked and said they had 5 plugs on hand and they were 10R12A which they claimed they didn't have just 2 days ago when I said I needed one for my Buell. It's a conspiracy I tells ya. Actually I'll wager the S.O.B. was just too lazy to even look since it would have required him to move one foot in front of the other multiple times.

Lesson learned is that the V-Rod of 2009 uses our ULY plug and maybe all years of the V-Rod do but for sure the 2009 model. Not all H-D dealers carried Buell but all of them certainly have been selling the V-Rod.
