Cross posted from XBoard section. Trying to do a TPS reset and can't get the voltage to drop below .62V

If your throttle plate is CLOSED, and you can verify that visually and physically...that's exactly what a TPS zero procedure is for.

If your throttle is closed but it's reading .62, your computer is getting "bad information" from the sensor. Zeroing the TPS is what tells the computer "this is closed; start here" for all its calculations.

Do the reset (you ARE doing this with a hot engine, right??) and go for a ride. I bet it behaves much better after you do it : )

Thanks Joe. Engine is warm. Visually verified closed throttle body valve, cleaned it up a bit then pulled the sensor since it locked up showing 1.0 with now changes when rolling on throttle.

With tps reset done it shows .77. Idle between 1023 and 1193, it skips around a bit looking at the actual digital numeric display. Feels about right.

It bothers me that I've previously been able to get this bike to a zero reading on voltage and now it won't go there... it worked okay to start up and run but the sensor seems sketchy from that other behavior.

Unplugged the sensor and got a zero, plugged in a similar sensor from my 91 f150 and voltage showed same as with the Buell sensor. The truck sensor wouldn't work to install sine it's sitting at a different angle for zero, but out of the vehicle it works to check. Odd that I've got this trickle voltage I didn't have before.

I just wanted to plug in and reset tps to try and rule out other issues too, this is tuning into an all day affair.

Little,
You may want to do what Treadmarks and Tootal have done to maintain and readjust their TPS.
Tootal even went so far as to take nice photos and give a tootorial on the subject. http://www.advrider.com/forums/showthread.php?t=27 3568&page=2&highlight=tootal1684.pdf

Is the TPS cleanable as in spraying tuner cleaner in it? Removed mine today to check pin engagement and preload it to a true zero. .76 volts disconnected from throttle shaft.
