Bit the bullet and spent the big bucks on a new set of cases. Went with Journey 42 silver for the side and Junior 55 black for the top.

Looks pretty good. I just ordered the gloss black journey bags. They should be in some time next week. |

Can you fit a full face helmet in the top case? |

Krabykarl, those bags are very nice but I have to admit I am jealous of the hoist in your garage and the little red Chevy. Cool! |

@Red: Two full face fit with no problem. These are both smalls with plenty of room to spare.
@Motorbike: The Nova was a present to myself after I sold my last bike in 1998. I had not technically been stuck in a cage since it's a convertible. I gave myself the Buell this spring. The lift was actually quite affordable. $2000 delivered, not professional quality but safe and worth every penny. |

What's the rating on the lift? Ceiling height? Brand? And how thick is your slab? Been looking for one myself...but one of my cages is a 2500 Ram diesel - definitely not a lightweight. |

It's rated at 10,000lbs, will take a vehicle up to 72" off the ground. My garage is 10' to the eaves and 12 1/2 at the peak. I can lift a pick up truck all the way. Bought it from Complete Hydraulic simular to this one. http://www.completehydraulic.com/lifts-2-post-cj10 000bp.html Slab is 6". I used to have a 1/2 ton GMC extended cab and it strained a bit but always lifted it fine. Despite the rating I would not use it for a 3/4 ton especially a diesel. BTW, for my money those Cummins Dodges are the best pick ups ever made. I got symmetrical arms because I had that truck. I've seen pick ups on asymmetrical lifts before and it's downright scary with all that weight balancing behind the posts. Since I traded in the truck I have been meaning to get a pair of asymmetrical arms cause it makes getting in and out of a car much easier. Just have not gotten around to it. |
