For anyone trying to unhinge the knees, just do the uly high seat position mod. PVC pipe fitted to frame rails, and the forward seat bracket sitting on a hard piece of rubber above the frame to get max height. Almost 24" from PE lowered pegs to top of seat. No more sliding into the tank due to the tilt, better cooling under the seat. With this and the bead rider I am able to ride in hot weather which I could not do before, Hot natured.

Interesting. Thanks. What is that pad on top of your bead rider? I am getting the beads and thought about putting them 'on top' of my sheepskin. Maybe I should try the sheepskin 'on top' of the bead rider.

The seat latches fine with the two pieces of PVC and no other mods? That should help give greater clearance for the ecm as well. I'll have to check that out tomorrow. Thanks.

seat latch worked fine for me, a little tight. you can adjust the rear latch if needed. The front bracket just slips under the airbox with the hard rubber under it. Seat cover is an atv seat cover. wal-mart or amazon. Seat is cooler without it. It seems to sandwich the beadrider making it less effective. You could get more height by cutting a gap in the airbox to allow the front bracket to go higher. You would need to stack the hard rubber to get more height. I used the sawed off heel of one of my old very hard size 14 flipflops. You can't see it in the picture very well as it is covered with the silver tape. Seat is very stable and as you stated gives extra ecm clearance. Each piece of pvc needed two lengthwise cuts to obtain the correct gap. They snapped in hard to the rails and don't budge. Very quick and no cost mod. Battery and ecu stay cool. Air moves not trapped.

I don't need more seat height, but I like the idea of the pvc pipe helping keep the seat away from my relocated ECM, which I still worry about...

yea, if you look at the bottom of your seat you will see indentations and marks where the seat tracks and rest on the rails. You could use smaller pipe or rubber hose along the entire length of the rails to get the clearance you desire. I switch out bikes with a bud who has a gs with adventure seat. been trying to get that unhinged feeling I get on his bike. mission accomplished. saved 24k.
FOR NOW
Also run a trail-tech with readouts for front and rear head temps. I've seen no increase in temps since this mod. By accident I discovered a way to limp home maybe with the fan inop.
Simply do this mod but do not block or insulate the the frame as I did. Ran this way a couple of days. Engine Temps normal and can't remember the fan ever coming on. Just very hot air blasting me from the space between seat and airbox. . Might try this again come winter. Never believed in global warming until a got a uly.

If it keeps the seat pan off the ECM I am in. Thanks for the post.
