Tepid response is probably just from people not wanting to continually flog the same dead horse.

Its been a while.

They're working hard.

They're more focused on the product than on keeping a message board happy (how dare they!).

I'm patient. Fall isn't far off. I suspect it'll be worth the wait.

Hopefully they improve on issues had with previous Adventure bike. At 6'3 the Uly is one of the few bikes that was a pleasure to ride not turn me into a hunchback. Can't wait to see the price hope it is under the BMW's. For my 07 the killers on the bike are leaky rocker box, low lighting at night, brake needs more meat on disk, wheel bearing issue, Crank pin Worry, ECM needs a safe place to sit without wire stretch, also put a extra inch or two in the handlebar wires / taller risers. They fixed most of the stuff on the newer ones so keep it up and get them cranked out If you elves are reading this.
How can I be a test monkey on one?

More alternator output for heated gear and xtra lights. Better lights to start with, cruise control, the heated grips are nice, ride by wire 150 hp 19 front 17 rear like the soon to be released ktm 1190 and enough fuel to go 250-300 miles on a tank, belt or chain drive. I like the belt because its clean and fuss free but you can tell when a chain is shot and ready to replace. with all that power a half fairing with a better wind protection would work. enough for now! Oh and keep the luggage capacity the xt came with or maybe a bigger trunk.

I was looking at the Uly 1125 pic yesterday. Has anyone built one from an R or CR? I may have found a lead on a cheap 1125R and the idea is intriguing to me.

Normally it costs around $400 to ship a bike to a dealer. Buell should skip the dealer network and ship directly to customers or allow customers to come to East Troy and ride one home. They've been doing that with their race bike and I'd bet that sub $20K bikes would sell much faster than $40K bikes. At the least, they could start this way to get a foot in the door. If they went out to Sturgis and other motorcyclist-get-togethers they could allow test rides. Heck, the dealer ordered my 06' ULY for me and I had to wait a couple of months for it. I could of just ordered it myself from Buell and not had to pay the dealer markup.

If EBR undercut dealers like that they would be dead in the water before they started. Thankfully, they know that well and are working hard to build a dealer base.

As for Sturgis Demo Rides, and Demo Rides at other venues, they'll be there if they ever get this endeavor rolling.

Two bikes, a stock 1190RS and one of the Hero themed race bikes.

If I had the original I might be able to get more detail.

There's a third bike on the ground to the left, not in the truck yet. ; )

Would you be upset to find out the AX was a smaller displacement machine? Just askin'.

>>>Would you be upset to find out the AX was a smaller displacement machine? Just askin'.

First: define smaller displacement.

But, nope, not necessarily. In fact I'm kinda figuring that the new AX will have the 1125 engine in it. 150HP is plenty for an ADV bike. And it's hard to see how Erik can put the 1190 in a sub/right at 20K bike.

I would be a bit dissapointed if it's sub 1000. But it will be one or the other: A single 450-650 or a 1000+ And I just don't see Erik going all out and risk going broke on a single. He has one shot at a production bike, and needs to aim at the biggest market out there. The sport-adventure is the fastest growing segment. And he still dreams in sport first...

I'm pretty sure Erik came out in one of the articles and stated that the RX, SX, and AX will all be based on the 1190 platform, much like the XB12 variations.

We know that Buell had a dirtbike (450?) ready to go, and according to Steve Anderson's article on the closure of Buell, they had a radically designed middle weight triple in the works at least a year before the closure. I wonder if that might see the light of day under EBR in another couple of years? I can definitely imagine an adventure variant of that.

I strongly suspect - looking at it from a business perspective, and parts-supply economics - that all three new bikes will be 1125/1190 variants.

Economy of scale.

XB-S.

XB-R.

XB-X.

AX, SX, RX.

Don't forget...there's electrics in the mix now too. Singles. Dirt. I think all will see the light of day eventually...once the company gets footing in the market.

They're being smart, and I can't wait to see the results : )

OK- here's "official" confirmation that the AX will be based on the 1190. Here's a quote from EBR vice president of sales and marketing Jim Dorman from the September 2012 edition of MPN (Motorcycle and Powersports News).

quote:

This is just the beginning. EBR is launching three new platforms in 2013 — an R version, a Street Fighter and an Adventure series. These three new models will be based upon the EBR-designed and developed 1190cc liquid-cooled twin and will be priced under $19,000. “ We are committed to developing a wide variety of platforms in the coming years,” explains Dorman.

I bought a used Goldwing for me and my wife to putt around on - But I sorely miss my Uly sans the hot seat, overgearing, and the buzzy buzzing NVH that was always there. Diving the GW is somewhat kin to driving around a stretched limo - somewhat comfy - but out of its element on Appalachian roads. The Uly was always "on its game" about anywhere I took it.

Hope the dealership thing works - I sent a short resume - being an EX Vic dealer, I'd think I know a bit about the game. Apparently, due to the lack of response, they're not interested in me. Apparently, due to the lack of further information about a Uly replacement, they're not interested in all of our curiosity and best wishes for the Uly replacement. Apparently - I'm loosing interest.

Nonetheless, I wish them well - the ADV market is filling up with some really cool bikes and I want another one - the Goldwing can just sit there until Momma wants to go for a spin. I'll be doing the daily on some sort of an ADV bike - if the AX is a contender, it may be one of them - but the KTM is looking like a "high fly ball"....

Don- that's discouraging that they didn't even contact you. I suppose it's possible they already have a dealer lined up in your area; the dealer page mentions that dealers will have "exclusive" territories with none closer than ~50 (?) miles.

Hughlysses - nah man - I sent them a resume to work in dealer development - LOL - knowing what I know now, I don't think I'd care to be that "strapped down" in a dealership again. But I have a good bit of experience in road sales, too. - good way to see the world ...
