A while back I changed the intake seals on my '08 UlyX in an effort to stop the bike from popping, lagging and stalling during starts from a stop.

I only got one short (2 min) ride in to verify that the bike was back together properly, then I parked it until I was able to rebuild the forks (left side was puking oil).

Yesterday I got the forks back in and finally got to take her out for a 45 minute ride. The popping and stalling seems to be gone (I say seems because it has gone away and come back before).

I started the bike, let it idle for 30-45 seconds, then headed out. When I got on the road and opened it up a little it lofted the front tire instantly and took off like a rocket.

My first stop from a start is about a km down the road and it ran fine... but that explosive power was gone. Accelerated hard, probably couldn't have lifted the front tire if I had wanted to.

Grasping at straws here.. could I have a bad engine temp sensor or something? It seems to have way more power when the engine is first started.

I am going to pick up rocker box gaskets tonight... I was just wondering about the temp sensor because I could change it while I have the engine rotated for the seals.

Anyone else ever experience less power after warm-up?

Could be you bumped the tps sensor while having the throttle body out. Do a hot tps reset and see what happens. If that fixes it then check the sensor. Make sure there is not play with the throttle shaft. A true zero or make sure there is some "pre-load" on the sensor. Then do another hot tps reset.

Do any of these TPS issues apply to '08's?

I have done a TPS reset with the throttle.

Did you do it while it was hot? The throttle reset is all I'm talking about. When hot the bore of the throttle body grows in diameter which allows the butterfly to close a little bit further. Doing a hot reset will be more accurate and should improve running. Your problem may be something else, I just wanted to make sure to get the basics out of the way before you start spending money!

I did another hot TPS reset today (last one was before intake seals)

Initial results look promising... Stopped on side of road to reset, power when leaving was pretty good!

We'll see how it is tomorrow.
