The "Stop and Go" tire pluggers work great. no messy glue in a tube that will almost always be dried up when you need it.

I keep a sticky rope setup with me on the bike because it is small, cheap, and effective. It is pretty invasive though, and tears up the carcass more than a proper internal patch...

So before I decide to use it I will decide if I am willing to scrap the tire when I get home. If I don't want to scrap the tire, I would call the neighbor with the truck and haul it back to where I can unmount the tire and patch it properly from the inside. If the tire was more or less done anyway, I'd use the sticky rope to patch and ride it home at a sane pace and park it until I replaced the tire.

Fix-a-flat / tire slime isn't a terrible option either, and might save a trip if you have a slowish leak.

I use the ropes and have had them in for over 2500 miles with regular checks and no issues (left it for the remainder of tire life). A rope kit and a small slime 12v compressor fit perfectly in the Buell under seat bag.

I use the "Stop and Go". I've had it for about 6 years now and have not had any problems with it. It stays under the seat.

I too have the "Stop and Go" kit. I have not had to use it on the bike yet but I did an emergency repair on my wife's minivan a while back and it lasted until we replaced the tires 15,000 miles later. Worked great!

Goopey ropes for me. I've plugged Scorpion Synchs and Trails and put thousands of miles on afterward. One thing, those mushroom things are useless.

I've had an unfortunate amount of experience with rope plugs. No issues at all. I have a C02 kit with extra large cartridges. One cartridge will take a Uly's rear tire to 30psi.

I do carry extra rubber cement. Small plastic jar fits just to the side of the seat latch. The extra cement makes it less difficult to slide the plug through the tire's carcass.

Multiple repairs with thousands of miles on most of them. I follow Dunlop's recommendations. No more than two repairs per tire. No more than one repair in any quadrant of the tire.

Huh. Thanks for the detail Mark, that is good information. Maybe I'll get a bit less conservative on use of the sticky ropes.
