Dont know what you call them but 2 tapped holes in the faring where the flyscreen mounts have stripped out on me. What are you guys doing to fix this?
Thought maybe some JB weld and re-tap. Or drill em larger and re-tap. Ideas guys?

I got thread-serts for mine. Take a screw to your local NAPA. They can tell you the thread (can't think of it offhand). Package even tells you what size drill bit you need : )

I inserted mine years ago with red loctite. Let em dry so the loctite is only thread-to-frame and doesn't hit the screws. Tap it out once to be sure its clean and insert the screws. You now have steel threads in an aluminum frame : )

That's a pretty small tab to put a threadsert in. I'd think to tap to the next size up or better yet; stick a nut behind the hole and JB weld it in place
IIRC the flyscreen screws are 3/4 inches long and should grab the nut behind the tab

I had one of the holes strip also. I plan on drilling them all the next size larger and re-tapping.

You can always drill out the flyscreen holes a little to give more room when installing.

These things are pain in the ass. The threads are WAY to fine for this application. If you do not take great care it is easy to cross them.

I would do as Djohn says but use a bigger pitch thread as well.

My threads were tapped with a pipe cleaner or a rusty nail when I got it.
No matter how carefully I tried to start the screws, they would cross up.
I chased all of them with a tap (Luckily I had one).
They haven't been trouble since.
I think there is plenty of meat for you to go up another size for all six.
