Over the past 5months my uly brings around 50 mpg, Ive had it as high as 55mpg/185 miles but never below 50 mpg. This is mixed riding, I don't always go light on the throttle, but sometimes I ride spirited and 2 up.

The last 2 tankfuls I have been driving 1 up and very gentle on the throttle. Each tank is now bringing me 35mpg at 125 miles a tank before the fuel light comes on.

What could be causing this? The only thing wrong on the uly is the starter motor gasket which shouldn't effect this.

When I got the bike I changed the spark plugs, fitted magnecor leads, inspected air filter.

Any ideas?

Checked your tire pressure lately? I had a low rear tire and was getting mileage similar to what you posted.

Front and rear tire both down by 7psi. Surely thats not big enough to cause such a sharp drop?

Could the fuel filter be the cause?

Need to look at AFV and see what is going on.

I'm curious as to what you find.

My city mileage is pretty poor too. I got about 48mpg on the highway, two-up and loaded w/gear. City, solo riding is more like 38mpg.

7psi could absolutely cause it.

Many things WILL affect it but rubber is the number one. 7 psi is a lot to be down and even 2 psi can effect the sweet handling of this bike.

ADVs numbers are about right for the 06 bike with good gas. With city ONLY I got 45 mpg and its 40 mpg on the 10 bike. Highway ONLY I got 55 mpg on the 06 bike and 50 mpg with the 10 bike. The 10 bike is set up, in my opinion, a little richer and maybe, in part, why it does not get as hot as the 06 bike.

You can do a quicker check by filling to the same mark in the tank and then just running the bike for 10 miles. Its cheaper than using a whole tank of gas. Do the same run using the same gas from the same station.

If you still have problems you will need to check the engine sensors etc.

Hard luggage will also cost you a measurable MPG drop.
