Got this advice here but my search couldn't locate it. This is what I use! "Another interesting note, is the Uly has a free gear indicator. When the bike is cruising in 4th gear, the speedo and tach needles are parallel to one another. If the tach needle is to the left of parallel, you're in 5th, to the right of parallel, you're in 3rd. I check it now before shifting into nonexistent 6th gear." |

I installed a Veypor VR2 race computer on one of mine a while back, it works great. It provides multiple functions in addition to a gear indicator http://www.veypor.com/ |

Froggy, now I know how you always get such good gas mileage, you have a warp drive installed! ... 407.2 MPH |

You also have a free fifth gear indicator. If stock geared the tach will read approx. 4000 at 80mph and 3000 at 60mph. |

To add.....5000 rpm would be about 100 mph and as you can see 5600 rpm will get ya a ticket! |

Froggy, how does it monitor MPG? Does it read injector pulse width from the injectors, or read from the ECM? Or is it some sort of dead rekoning based on things it can see like RPM? |

Glen, that screen was showing velocity in muppets per hour I didn't input the wheel size correctly the first time, so the quick spin around the block made me realize pretty quickly that something was amiss. Reepi - It does it based on math. The only sensors the VR2 model has was a magnetic sensor mounted near the wheel for speed, then it got the RPM by splicing into the wires going into the ignition coil. The new VR3 model shows more features like reading fluid temperatures, I don't know how it does that yet. It is a shame that the bike does not have OBDII, otherwise I could use my bluetooth module and DashCommand like I do on my truck to monitor and log everything. |

Hey Froggy, I have a Veypor coming for my 2006 Uly. Any tips or tricks for hooking them up to a Buell? |

Here is an old thread with pics and some details about the install: http://www.badweatherbikers.com/cgibin/discus/show .cgi?47623/364112 It is easy to install, you just need to splice into the ignition to get a signal for the tach, then run the line to the rear wheel for the included speed sensor. It comes with a magnet that can easily attach to the brake rotor, the only issue is getting it in a good spot and close enough to the sensor so it reads with every pass, otherwise it thinks you are going nowhere. |

You mean everyone doesn't remember what gear they are in? |
