Ye Olde Useless (2006, 68,256 miles) has recently taken to running like crap with much bucking, surging and just general carrying on.
The culprit? The front spark plug lead had rubbed against the throttle cables and finally it wore through the insulation.
New plug lead covered in some shrink wrap and hopefully better routing and all is well again.
Hope this helps someone else.

Cool and a known issue.

You are a lucky Uly owner. Mine rubbed through in less than 10,000 miles. Make sure it does not rub that cable even with a wrap on it.

I put spacers under the coil so the front wire would route between the cables and has worked well. It's now a straight shot between them so it doesn't rub.

My '06 with 22,000 miles is intermittently acting very similar to that. I just checked the timing, zero'd the TPS, set the AFV to 100, but still get the bucking and slight reduction in power occasionally. This morning all I had to do to "fix" was stop for fuel. I'll pull the airbox cover (aka tank) and start checking for all the rubbed through wires I keep reading about. Thanks for the tip.
