So I've been riding around on our 2 nice days of the yr here in MN. I pull up to the garage and notice my low beam is out! I also notice my fan hasn't been running lately. Then I remember my new Compufire VR I installed this winter! Yikes, is it over charging and blowing out components??! But then I get thinkin. It's not that warm out yet. All the other electrical bits are working right. And my green LED that indicates too much/too little/just right voltage never indicated anything wrong(thank god I installed that item in my instrument cluster). Plus, correct me if I'm wrong, but can you even blow out a DDM HID bulb? Doesn't the transformer protect all that? If anything maybe the DDM transformer blew. I start checking fuses,wiring diagrams, then wiggle wires and found it. The connectors on our favorite DDMs are kinda cheezy n plastic. And mine are carefully setup so no wires are being pulled or pushed. And it seems no amount of glue or clamping will fix these cheapo connectors. I've had to resort to tie wraps for now. Just wanted to let those of you with the DDMs know, if you have a light go out, it could very well just be one of the connectors. | ||

Also be careful when troubleshooting those HID's with one of these:  After the ballast its high voltage. 1) I blew the light bulb on the probe and; 2) I started getting electrical arching between two wires causing further problems (I had to tape the wires with electrical tape after I poked the holes in the insulation). |
