Well im happy to say that i found a good deal on an 08 uly. I sold my 06 after having it for a year and have wanted another ever since. I am very happy with the inprovements over the 06. The bike is pretty much stock and it came with an extra set of bags, gps and other accesories. One thing im wondering about, is there much after market seat choices. I believe the bike has the low seat, i like the height of it but would like on that has a more level drivers seat. I find the seat i have is always pushing forward. Does anybody have any suggestions?
Thanks for any input

Glad to hear your back on a Ulysses. From time to time I've seen Corbin seats on ebay. The Buell tall seat has the most level surface. You can find these much more easily than the Corbin seats.

My story is similar to yours. My 06 was a casualty of the recession. Although I've had some frustrating problems with my new 08,theres nothing like a ulysses. Enjoy your new ride!

Over the winter I had my low seat recovered for about $150. I had them use marine grade vinyl instead of leather. less expensive and better in wet conditions. While he had it apart I had him shave some foam from the sides where your thighs hit while standing at a light. It really made a difference for getting my feet on the ground. Also for about $100 extra I had him put a gel insert in the sitting area. Haven't tested it yet, but it's got a lot more cush compared to that rock hard low seat foam. I'll let you know how it feels if I can ever get out on this thing. 2 days ago we got about a foot of snow in minneapolis!

Yes its good to be back on the uly, i very much enjoy riding it. Thanks for the feed back about the seat. I prefer the low seat as i like my feet firmly planted to the ground. That was one of the things i didnt like about my 06. I think i will try you idea uly_dude, im happy with the seat i have other than id like to be able to change my seating position without feeling like im being pushed forward. Next i will be getting new tires, previous owner put street tires on. From what ive been reading it between the dunlop 616 and the pirelli scorpion. Any other suggestions on a good tire fore going off road on the uly?
Thanka again for the input.

If you're going to be doing quite a bit of off road then the Dunlop 616 is what you want. If you're venturing off road occasionally but are running 90 percent street then the Pirelli Scorpion Trails will give you longer wear than the Dunlops and they do pretty well on hard pack and rock.

Uly_dude, where did you get your seat recovered. Wife has a BMW F650 that has rips in the seat. Want it recovered and lowered slightly. Looking for a shop that does quality work.

Con brio/Thad, I had it done at Rick and Dicks in bloomington; http://www.dickandricks.com/contact-us/bloomington /
The guy who did the work was named Steve. He did a great job and worked with me on it.

"is there much after market seat choices." I would buy an old seat. All the same and cost next to nothing and have it
re-worked to suit you with proper memory foam. Super comfy and you could fit heated pads as well if you like. It would also cost half of a Corbin seat as well.

First Thursday club. It's on my calendar Con brio! Now we just have to get some normal weather. Another 6" tonight in Minneapolis. Ugh

Clayman08,

I believe my 09 came with the medium height seat which was not very comfortable for me. I then acquired a tall seat off an 06 which was better but is still uncomfortable for a long ride. Seems like both pitch you forward which I do not care for. I found a Corbin used on e-bay and while it is flatter and more comfortable, I find it too hard and would prefer the seat to be slightly more hollow. I've also installed a sheepskin seat cover which does help.

I may be your best bet to have your current seat modified. I think my next step will be to install some Palmer cruiser pegs. I believe this may rotate my hips a bit, provide a different seating position and allow me to sit more comfortably toward the rear of the seat.

Hoover_uly, thanks for the info. Yes I kinda figure my best bet is to remould the seat I have or I may buy a seat off eBay and do it to that one. I was thinkin of getting a Corbin but its a bit much to gamble on.
