He spent $8,400 just to gain 5HP and 20lbs*ft? Am I missing something?

He now has the same power my Road Glide has!! That's a lot of cash but speed is expensive!

You are missing a lot Yan. He gained over 20% power if his numbers are measured at the wheel. That thing probably hauls!

"Am I missing something?" Sort of yes and no? It depends on what you like/want. It looks like a good job but what its like to ride is another matter. It will "eat" Corsa rubber as well. You do not get 5k miles out of them on a std 06 Uly. I know I tried.

Given the cost I would have thought it a better idea to re-work a CR to a Uly style bike ie AX(ish) but this looks like he was doing it the other way around.

"re-work a CR to a Uly style bike ie AX(ish)". Now thats a thought?

I'm sure it's fun to ride but I have to wonder how long that engine will last.

Looks like a solid build to me.

People really need to get their stock bike on a Dyno, and understand that virtually every bike sold has the spec power measured not at the rear wheel, and not even at the crank, but measured "at the brochure".

Based on the dyno, that's a STOUT bike, and a very well thought out build. Nice linear curve, a TON of power off the line. I'd love to have it.

Go ride a KDX-200 or similar bike that has been worked over to get an extra 10% with a great power band. It's the difference between "meh" and "whee".

Take your "at the crank" numbers and reduce them by 10 to 15 percent and you will have your rear wheel numbers. With the torque curve he's showing I don't know how you're going to keep the front end on the ground!!

My only concern would be the increased heat. That and how much better the engine cools while the front wheel is in the air.

the chart showing that the bike had around 93hp before the modifications were done, so he did gain 15hp at the rear wheel or about 15%. Is it really THAT much? I have limited experience with bikes, my previous was KLR650 with what, 45hp or so, and when I moved to Ulysses it was a 'WOW'. Would 15% gain feel as dramatic?

So according to that he lost 8 percent at the rear wheel assuming 102 HP at the crank. Now he has 108 at the rear wheel so knowing it was 8 percent means he's got 118 at the crank. The impressive thing is the torque though! Torque is usually directly related to Cubic inches. A 90 inch motor should easily make 90 ft. lbs of torque. With porting and proper cam choice you can make more torque. My 95 inch motor makes 108 ft.lbs. of torque. I knew the stock Buell cams closed the intakes really late, that's why they have that dual personality with the two stroke rush at 5000 rpm! The cams he's using now close much sooner moving that torque peak to a much lower rpm.

Love to take that thing for a ride. My older brother does stuff like this. Put a fortune into building engines on his vehicles ever since he was in junior high. I guess you do what you love. Some folks just have the knack. Nothing wrong with that.
