I have a Garmin Zumo 550 GPS on my Uly. I put it on the handlebar where it fit best. Problem is I have to look down for a second or so to see the thing(usually for speed purposes) and I dont like taking my eyes off the road for that long of a time. I have an aftermarket bracket for my XT windscreen, so there is a gap between the screen and the flyscreen. Anyone have any ideas how I can figure something out to get it centered there instead of on the handlebar?

do you have a palmer bracket?

Ive been working to make a SS "dash board" that will fit in the gap between my fly screen and the back side of the windshield (tall) that I have on mine. One with a complimentary radius mimicking that of the windshield's contour. It attaches to the palmer bracket, thus the lead off question above.

I should try to take a photo of a prototype I made from aluminum to show a possible way to mount stuff up there. Like you, I wanted it for a gps mount and a place for my HD and XM radio heads.

I will try to remember to take a shot of it this weekend after I get home but if I forget, PM me to jog my overloaded brain

I have the palmer tall windshield/brackets/brace kit and screen baffle. Take a look at the screen baffle on the Palmer Products site. It has a contour that matches the windscreen and it is already powder coated black. I never saw the need in this climate to block the air between the flyscreen and windshield and since that may cause more turbulence, I used the baffle as a dashboard mounted above and in front of the speedometer. With a little screwing around, it was easy to mount the baffle between the palmer brackets giving me a dashboard.

I have mine mounted lower than described above but it does work well for me.

Not sure how it would work with a GPS due to the weight of the unit and the offset mounting tabs of the baffle. I've only mounted a Kuryakyn voltmeter and analog clock but still have plenty of room to mount some other items. I'm thinking seriously about trying to relocate some of the warning lights out of the speedo to get them in the line of sight also.

This is the first adaptor to the Palmer system I made, Then I just altered it to accept 2 /76c GPS units. The two units have been hung for 20,00 miles with no issues

I don't have the support bats on the windscreen. Not sure of the brand off hand but its sort of like a knock off Madstad bracket. Just moves the screen out then has adjustments for height and angle. If I can figure it out I will post a pic.
